04.01.2022 Storm season is upon us and it's a great time to plan ahead for any unexpected electrical issues that may occur at your home or business due to bad weather. In the case of a cyclone or bad storm, we recommend the following to protect yourself and your assets: Prepare an emergency plan for loss of power and ensure you make your property safe and secure. Have a licenced electrician check your important electrical systems and switchboards to ensure all of your circuits, equ...ipment and appliances are protected. Have a licenced electrician test your generator and change-over switch to ensure it will function correctly and be able to handle your power requirements when needed. If you don't have a generator or change-over switch, contact us for a quote to hire a generator and have change-over switch installed. Consider having surge protection installed by a qualified electrician if you don't currently have it. When a red cyclone alert is issued, switch off and unplug all of your electrical equipment and store it in a safe place. After the storm, if your power is out the first point of contact is Ergon, followed by a qualified electrician if Ergon cannot assist.
