24.01.2022 ACT 190/491 update

23.01.2022 We are aware of scammers trying to impersonate the Department of Home Affairs by copying one of our websites. The correct URL for our immigration and citizensh...ip website is https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/. Don’t be fooled by cyber criminals. Protect yourself from government impersonation scams by checking that the URL of any Australian government website you access contains ‘.gov.au’. For more tips on how to protect your personal information online visit: https://www.esafety.gov.au//h/protect-personal-information.

22.01.2022 congrats Sukhman on your Permanent Residency in subclass 190 in ACT.

19.01.2022 ***ACT Nomination Update for subclass 190 and 491*** The Australian Government has directed that nominations provided to states and territories are focused on applicants critical to supporting the effort in response to COVID-19 pandemic. This includes individuals providing critical or specialist medical services, with critical skills required to maintain the supply of essential goods and services; and those who deliver services in sectors critical to Australia’s economic recovery. ACT has provided guidelines on updated nomination criteria. Applicants having occupation on Critical skills list may qualify for ACT matrix provided they meet eligibility criteria.

18.01.2022 A 38-year-old Chinese national has been jailed for 6 years after being convicted of multiple charges relating to extensive migration fraud. A joint ABF, Austra...lian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Australian Federal Police investigation revealed the woman, who had been living in Perth, masqueraded as a registered migration agent, obtaining more than $300,000 from unsuspecting visa applicants, and charging a number them for services she did not deliver. 17.01.2022 Recently there have been increasing instances of unregistered agents providing migration advice to other people. Except under limited circumstances, a person cannot provide immigration assistance in Australia under SECTION 280 of MIGRATION ACT 1958. Providing immigration assistance/advertising such practice without being registered with MARA is strictly prohibited in Law and penalties can attract imprisonment of upto 10 years.... Education consultants cannot advise on immigration matters except study enrolments, courses, etc. Please make sure that your agent is registered with MARA and always ask for MARA registration number.

16.01.2022 Smiles on faces of another lovely family. Congrats Shamini on your Permanent Residency grant in ACT-subclass 190.

11.01.2022 Latest Media release regarding International students and TSS visa holders ******International Students***************** Students are encouraged to rely on family support, part-time work where available and their own savings to sustain themselves in Australia. ... Students who have been here longer than 12 months who find themselves in financial hardship will be able to access their Australian superannuation. The Government will undertake further engagement with the international education sector who already provide some financial support for international students facing hardship. For example, we understand there are some education providers that are providing fee discounts to international students. ****Temporary Skilled visa holders (TSS visa)******** Those visa holders who have been stood down, but not laid off, will maintain their visa validity and businesses will have the opportunity to extend their visa as per normal arrangements. Businesses will also be able to reduce the hours of the visa holder without the person being in breach of their visa condition. These visa holders will also be able to access up to $10,000 of their superannuation this financial year. Those visa holders who have been laid off due to coronavirus should leave the country in line with existing visa conditions if they are unable to secure a new sponsor. However, should a 4-year visa holder be re-employed after the coronavirus pandemic, their time already spent in Australia will count towards their permanent residency skilled work experience requirements. 11.01.2022 Another Happy client. Congrats Sukhdeep Singh on your permanent residency 190 visa grant in ACT within three months.

10.01.2022 Biosecurity officers at Sydney Airport have used new legislation to cancel a passenger’s visitor visa for the first time because of a serious biosecurity breach.... The passenger, arriving from Vietnam, failed to declare food products on their Incoming Passenger Card. The passenger had 4.6 kilos of pork along with quail, raw eggs, fruit, squid, pate and garlic in their luggage. Meat products pose a huge risk to our agricultural sector with the threat of African swine fever (ASF) currently spreading through a number of countries. It’s the first time someone has been expelled under Australia’s tough new visa cancellation legislation. They won’t be able to come back to Australia for three years. Returning Australians who do the same could face criminal prosecution or civil court action. They could be ordered to pay up to $420,000 and be sentenced up to 10 years in jail. An outbreak of ASF in Australia would have significant impacts on pig production, health and the livelihoods of Australian farmers. Everyone has a role to play in biosecurity, help us protect Australian agriculture. When in doubt, don’t be sorry just declare it! For more information, visit agriculture.gov.au/bringing-goods

03.01.2022 As the World Health Organisation declares a pandemic, the Government of India has suspended all tourist visas and e-visas granted on or before March 11 (see sta...tement above). 03.01.2022 *******Australian Skilled Migration Update*********** Gooday everyone, There will be two new skilled regional provisional visas to be introduced in November 20...19: 1. Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa: for people sponsored by an employer in regional Australia. 2. Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa: for people who are nominated by a State or Territory government or sponsored by an eligible family member to live and work in regional Australia. Under these new visas, migrants will be required to live and work in a regional area of Australia for at least three years before they are eligible to apply for permanent residence. These new regional visas will provide greater incentives for regional employers to nominate skilled workers, including priority processing of applications and access to additional skilled occupations. Based on current eligible skilled occupation lists: 1. the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa will have almost 700 eligible occupations; and 2. the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa will have over 500 eligible occupations.
