25.01.2022 World Toilet Day celebrates toilets and raises awareness of the 4.2 billion people living without access to safely managed sanitation. When people have access to functional and clean toilets, there is less sickness. The risk of drinking water becoming contaminated by faeces is lower. The possibility of bacteria spreading and causing outbreaks of diarrhoea is reduced. Women and girls feel safer because toilets can be built closer to the village houses. GMP through COCOA its Community Sustainability Program in Bangladesh, installs new toilets in the remote Bandarban Hills district. When you purchase a Great Gift of a toilet you are supporting this important health program.

18.01.2022 Give the Great Gift of Computer Skills vocational training providing a person like Shruti living in Mumbai and in rural Lasina with basic skills to use a computer and apply for a job in India. Shruti was a shy girl with little hope for further education. The computer course gave Shruti an opportunity to improve her English. Her confidence soared when she passed the government’s basic computer certificate exam and she hopes to eventually become a teacher. www.greatgifts.org.au

06.01.2022 A new fence for Emmanuel Primary School! Children at Emmanuel Primary School are pretty familiar with wandering cattle, but when they wander into the school yard, they are a distraction from learning! Wandering cattle have destroyed many of the mango trees that the school has planted, and they have put hopes to establish a nutrition garden on hold. Couple this with people using the school’s borehole and toilets, a new fence will make for a much safer environment one much more conductive to learning and growing for the children. Some years ago carers of the children donated posts and built a fence from local materials. Termites and the weather have put an end to the usefulness of this fence, so now it’s being replaced by a new steel fence.
