24.01.2022 Malachy in West Australia. This is Storm's first grandson to be out and competing, so far as we know.

23.01.2022 That's my girl!

22.01.2022 LeVale Harriet missed her 3 months old post because the weather was so bad and the background was so dusty. Given her colour and the colour of the atmosphere, i...t was difficult to get colour contrast. She is making up for it today - 2 weeks late. No more Harriet photos until September 2022. I hope I remember! See more

22.01.2022 So far as I know, Costalota Mickey Drippin is the only son of Gneevebrack Storm to have been left entire. Out of the Finbar mare, Glenormiston Kinsale, he is now rising 6 years old and remains the property of his breeder, Lynda Robinson at Chinchilla, Qld. Three pictures of a maturing pony: Mickeys lovely head; Mickeys solid rear view; Mickey relaxing.

20.01.2022 Dunmurry Cill Dara is now a yearling and is a lovely son of Gneevebrack Storm..

19.01.2022 All of you Storm Lovers - this is worth watching. This is the Elementary Freestyle Dressage at Aonach. https://youtu.be/IPVeI2MDOF4

19.01.2022 A great weekend. Placed third in EVA80 - A at the REA Wagga Horse Trials ODE held at Narrandera. Dreadful weather has no terrors for a pony bred and born in western Ireland. Dropped from second placing by 3 time faults on an otherwise clear cross country. Feeling fit and enthusiastic about more mares this week and some Dressage competition next weekend. Congratulations too to the other Connemaras at Narrandera. Kerby Siemsen's Sugargum Cisco was second in the EVA 60, and my old mate, CSU Lyrebird, owned and ridden by Paige Gready was ninth in the EVA 95. I'll ask Nicole to put up some vision. Thanks to the committee members of REA Wagga Horse Trials who have battled many obstacles as well COVID restrictions to run a successful competition.

19.01.2022 These two blokes have also been at every Aonach since the event began. When we started they were both colts: Sugargum Sirocco ('Croc') and Gneevebrack Storm. Long may they reign!

19.01.2022 This seasons home foals. The roan filly, LeVale Harriet, is out of Capparis Ryanne. The greyish gelding, LeVale Puck, is out of Glenormiston Pooka.

19.01.2022 Gneevebrack Storm competed in his first medium tests on Saturday at the Riverina Dressage Festival for a 1st and 2nd place. Due to his inexperience at this leve...l he made some minor mistakes but showed his ability to move into the higher grades. He is now working at being more established at this level and working towards competing Advanced. Thank you Ella Bradshaw for the photos. See more

18.01.2022 Blue's mother, 'Tina', came to Storm for live cover. We are delighted to see the result. He has a lovely 'Storm' head and, apparently, temperament.

17.01.2022 LeVale Harriet by Storm out of Capparis Ryanne (Hetty). Harriet is 3 weeks old today. No more photos until late December when she will be 3 months old! then nothing for almost 3 years!

17.01.2022 Season 2019-2020 done and dusted! Four mares, four foals now on the ground - three fillies and one colt. The fillies are all purebreds: Sugargum Lavender out of Glenormiston Lisdoonvarna, LeVale Hippolyta out of Capparis Ryanne and LeVale Sunrise (this little lovely) out of Glenormiston Sorcha. The colt (t.b.g.) out of Bureyer Victoria is a half-brother to Sugargum Las Vegas. I'm now at work on Season 2020-2021.

17.01.2022 Great weekend at Gundagai Horse Trials for John Bromfield and Connemara Stallion Gneevebrack Storm. Lovely weather, a great course and a fantastic event with a ...wonderful committee made for a great weekend. John and Storm were running equal first after dressage in the 80cm class, after an unfortunate rail in the showjumping phase dropped them back to 3rd place. A clear and under time cross-country round saw them stay and finish in 3rd place. This is only the second year this event has been run at Gundagai, Jim Scobie and the Gundagai Horse Trials committee need to be congratulated for all the work they have put in to the course over this time and getting this event up and running. A great course and well run event. Many thanks to the sponsor of the 80cm event - Truck Trades Australia - without the support of sponsors, events like these would not be possible. See more

16.01.2022 These two are celebrating their three-month birthdays together, and a few days late. Starts with Lola the Kelpie making a nuisance of herself with LeVale Sunris...e (ex Glenormiston Sorcha) and moves to Sugargum Lavender (ex Glenormiston Lisdoonvarna) getting the first scratches. Both fillies are by Gneevebrack Storm. Lavender is the elder by a week or so. Video credit: Aaron Oldaker. See more

13.01.2022 Three cheers for my son LeVale East Wind and his young owner, Tayla Anderson. This is the text of the email that The Boss received from Taylas mother this morning: Just a Windy update. Today he went to Boneo Park to Interschool Combined Training 60cm class. Well he was amazing winning the dress scoring 79%. He did a great Sj round as he hasnt done a full course before. Only had one rail Sj but was so far in front in Dressage he still won the class. Not bad for his first c...t and there were 30 in the class. More importantly Taylah and him are having a lot of fun day to day with the kids and pony thing. She makes him molasses biscuits and he is spoiling him Well Windy beat her other boy today which has barely been done before. Go Windy More importantly Tayla and him are having a lot of fun day to day with the kids and pony thing. She makes him molasses biscuits and he is spoiling him. Its wonderful when the right pony finds the right owner!

13.01.2022 Clever Sorcha - clever me!

12.01.2022 My Partbred (3/4) son. His mother was by Castle Baron.

10.01.2022 Feeling good tonight! Finished Fifth in the AV80 at Wagga Wagga today. Photos to follow. Fourth after the Dressage - pulled a rail (okay - it was my fault - thought I knew more than JB) in the Showjumping and dropped to eleventh (things being tight at the top), but then showed those big gallumping speedsters how to manage a Cross-Country course: no jumping faults and no time faults. If you have got, comparatively speaking, short legs, then you pick your course and play to your strengths. In my case strengths include answering exactly Johns instructions about line and pace. If you can do pirouettes, you can manage short tracks and tight balanced turns between obstacles. So, no bragging! I like being ridden by John Bromfield, I reckon he is a brilliant rider, and I usually dance happily to his command.

09.01.2022 Today we said good bye to LeVale East Wind who started the next chapter of his ridden career. We are looking forward to seeing the progress of this exciting young pony and we wish his new owners all the very best.

09.01.2022 Two Gneevebrack Storm youngsters think its feedtime! l. 4 y.o. gelding, LeVale East Wind ex Ashleighs Jazz; r. yearling filly, LeVale Solas ex Glenormiston Sorcha. East Wind is broken in and will be officially measured at the end of November. Should come in at about 14.h.h. Will not go over height. Solas is well handled, ties up, leads, is trimmed etc. She is a full sister to 7 y.o. Peppertree Lady Sue.

06.01.2022 LeVale Harriet at 3 days. The boss works on the plan of photos at 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months, 3 years. Stand by for updates at these intervals!

04.01.2022 Dunmurry Cill Dara aka Rudi ( Gneevebrack Storm x Glenormiston Ainne) at 10 months. Rudi is off to Qld soon and has a career in competitive carriage driving in mind. Looking forward to Storm progeny venturing into that arena@

03.01.2022 Even better day for a Storm! Gundagai One Day Event - actually held over two days. finished 3rd in the 80 cm class. Pretty pleased with myself, though I could have done without the experience of pulling the last rail in the showjumping! Equal lead at the end of the Dressage, then that rail in the Show Jumping - but a lovely clean flowing round in the Cross Country, and I pulled up feeling well within my abilities. Thanks John Bromfield for the skilful piloting. I believe that Nicole has some good images that she is going to post.

03.01.2022 Dunmurry Cill Dara, sired by Gneevebrack Storm, strutting his stuff

03.01.2022 Dunmurry Rylynn ( Storm x Pumpkin) is now being backed and showing a lovely soft mouth , great temperament and great back end

03.01.2022 The next generation! Tayla Anderson and LeVale East Wind at the Victorian Youth Dressage Championships at Boneo Park last weekend. Tayla is 11 years old and East Wind has just gone 4 and they were having their first outing together. Taylas smile says it all. They placed fourth in the 1A with 71.4%. Second and third placings were both on 71.5%. East Wind is the only foal of Ashleighs Jazz. His maternal grandsire is Castle Baron, which makes him 3/4 Connemara and the product of several excellent families. I look forward to hearing about their fun and accomplishments in the future.

02.01.2022 I have just done some research that I should have attended to years ago. What is the meaning of 'Gneevebrack'? The spelling does not look Irish - and it isn't! Gneevebrack is an anglicisation of the Gaelig spelling of two words 'gníomh' and 'breac' . A ‘gníomh’ of land is a portion of plough land, probably about ten acres. 'Breac' is 'speckled' or 'spotted' and also the Irish for trout. 'Gníomh Breac' would then mean the speckled parcel of land - speckled by occasional trees. Thank you Tom MacLochlainn! For the record, randomly through the white hairs of Storm's coat there are tiny pink (chestnut?) speckles.

02.01.2022 Proud to announce the arrival of my first offspring for this season: a filly out of Anne Whites mare, Hetty (properly known as Capparis Ryanne). She has been named LeVale Harriet. Photograph at 24 hours old.

02.01.2022 These are the promised photos. Its a group of fences, tightly placed. This is where a pony who is obedient (as I am, of course) can economise on time! I love the concentration on JBs face! And youd be blind if you could not see that I am enjoying myself. thanks to Madeline Oldaker for the photography.
