09.01.2022 DO YOU GNOME ANYTHING ABOUT THIS MYSTERY? 21 years ago, someone or something planted the first gnome at Ferguson Valley’s iconic Gnomesville, no-one has ever ...claimed responsibility for it. Ferguson Valley’s ‘Gnomeologist’ Wendy Perdon tells us that the phenomenon was triggered 2 decades ago by a minor school bus accident at the intersection where the village sits today. The Shire of Dardanup were concerned about the intersection so decided to build a roundabout- an idea that some locals thought was ludicrous. The legend goes that one night a gnome leaning on a shovel appeared on the verge to oversee the council workers in the form of a silent protest. Each night more gnomes would appear during the roundabout construction. 21 years later there are an estimated 10,000 gnomes that call Gnomesville’ home. So was the first gnome placed there by a human or did it simply make its own way there? #FergusonValley #Discoverfergusonvalley Pics: Kerry Shaw
