Adelaide United Director of Football, Bruce Djite, said: Carl is undoubtedly the best person to lead our squad moving forward and what he and the team showed while in the hub only validated that. Hes fostered a very positive working environment under extremely difficult circumstances and, since being at the helm, there has been a noticeable improvement in the teams performances. All the players and staff have the upmost respect for him, which is vital and we wish Carl all the best for the upcoming season. 16.01.2022 Wellington Phoenix Players Exit Quarantine Wellington Phoenix players and coaching staff have tonight exited their Government-appointed quarantine hotel in Wellington. The group have spent the past 14 days at the Grand Mercure hotel since returning to New Zealand from their Sydney hub part of an 80 day stint away from home they were required to undertake, in order to participate in the Hyundai A-League season re-start.... The players released from quarantine included David Ball, Callan Elliot, Louis Fenton, Te Atawhai Hudson-Wihongi, Zac Jones, Alex Rufer, Oliver Sail, Walter Scott, Sam Sutton and Ben Waine; along with Coach Ufuk Talay and members of the coaching and technical staff. Talay says that while the past 14 days have been difficult at times, the club and players knew it was a necessity in order for the season to be completed. It was tough going from one isolation facility in Sydney to another in Wellington, and having to be separated from family for over 80 days. The setup at the hotel has been good, its just tough being confined to a room when you want to be more active but Ive kept myself busy by speaking with agents, planning ahead and working on as much as I can. We did what we had to do to get the season finished, and credit to the hotel staff, nurses and army personnel who have been absolutely great. Talay says that he is looking forward to being reunited with his wife and son after three months apart. I cant wait to get home and see my family first and foremost. Im looking forward to having dinner at home with them - a proper homecooked meal for the first time in forever - and to sleep in my own bed tonight. Wellington Phoenix forward David Ball says it has been a very long 14 days for him in quarantine. Im very excited and happy to get out; it was a tough experience in terms of not being able to do things away from the hotel, and being confirmed to a small area of space for such a long time. And its been hard being away from my wife and two boys, the most challenging thing Ive had to do for a very long time - but the players and staff have kept each other upbeat and positive during this time. Ball says that one thing that helped the group was being able to have exercise outside of their rooms twice a day; a 45 minute break in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. We could go into the hotel carpark and were allowed to mingle with the other players from our bubble, as long as we practiced social distance. Some of the boys would run circuits and others would kick a football to each other it was a bit of a surreal experience really, but you needed that time to get out of the room youre in.

15.01.2022 We are incredibly disappointed to have to share this, but we are asking for any information our community might have in relation to who has vandalised our pavil...ion. We are annoyed that not just someone in our community had the nerve to deface something that our volunteers give hundreds of hours a year to operate and protect, but this would have been done in accordance with the current lockdown and curfew restrictions which these vandals quite clearly do not care for. Any information the community may have in relation to the offenders would be much appreciated. OL defeated German heavyweights VfL Wolfsburg 3-1 in the Final played at the Anoeta Stadium in San Sebastian, Spain. Also on the weekend Westfield Matildas captain Kerr added another trophy to her ever expanding list of honours as her London-based club, Chelsea FC, defeated Manchester City FC in the 2020 FA Womens Community Shield at the famous Wembley Stadium. 02.01.2022 Nike reveals a sustainable Australia National Team Kit Thursday, 17th September 2020: Sustainability and innovation are at the core of the 2020 Australia National Team Kit, revealed live today by Nike and Football Federation Australia for thousands of fans.... Nike athletes unveiled the home and away kits, which will unify the Matildas and Socceroos in key tournaments leading up to the biggest football events of 2022 and 2023. Joining from Europe, Asia and Australia, Matildas Sam Kerr, Ellie Carpenter, Caitlin Foord, Kyah Simon and Hayley Raso and Socceroos Trent Sainsbury, Awer Mabil, Adam Taggart and Jamie Maclaren revealed the new kit. Made from recycled plastic bottles As part of Nikes commitment to Move To Zero, the Australia kits are again constructed with 100% recycled polyester from plastic bottles. Since 2010, more than 7.5 billion plastic bottles have been diverted from landfills and waterways and transformed into recycled polyester for Nike footwear and apparel. The refined home jersey is a traditional Australian gold, elevated by a green colour blocked polo collar. The reintroduction of green shorts gives the athletes a classic home kit that embodies the DNA of Australian football. The kit is completed with gold socks. The away kit reintroduces a fresh water jersey, fresh water socks and deep obsidian shorts. The colour is a contemporary take on the 2004 Socceroos kit, which was the first official kit released by Nike for the Socceroos and debuted in Sydney when Australia played Turkey in front of nearly 30,000 fans. The obsidian shorts also revisit Australias football heritage, with navy having featured regularly in the national away kit. A Southern Cross appears as the outer pride element on the back of the away jersey. The home and away kits feature Australian Federation crests on both jersey and shorts. In addition, both kits feature a jagged side stripe, which extends with a full swing of the leg and transitions into a vibrant yellow stripe on the away kit and a classic green stripe on the home kit. Matildas Captain Sam Kerr said, Im a big fan of the classic design of this new home kit. Its an honour to play in green and gold and we cant wait to get back on the pitch as a team. The next few years are so important for Australian womens football, and we intend to do everyone proud in the lead up to a huge 2023. Socceroos defender Trent Sainsbury said, As Australian footballers, were spread across the world.
