15.01.2022 The Honorable Member Mr. Josh Frydenberg House of Representatives Po Box 6022 Canberra 2600. Dear Mr. Frydenberg,... I am the owner of a travel company specializing in small group journeys to Southeast Asia and China. We have been established in Canberra since 1994 and our clients are drawn from all over Australia and internationally. I am now 61 years of age. At the outset of this email I would like to thank the Federal Government for the Job keeper assistance program and also the Travel Industry grant. Both initiatives have been most welcome. As you are aware , the travel industry finds itself at the pointy end of the pandemic, caught between a rock and hard place. Our business can only survive with International flights and eased border restrictions. I understand the timeframe for any resumption/opening is difficult to establish although I note a date is now suggested for June 2021. Like many others in our industry we have endured not just financial hardship but also the loss of direction , the loss of opportunity , the loss of hope. The outcome remains uncertain so this is why I ask the Federal government to extend Job keeper for the travel industry beyond March 2021 to be commensurate with the return of International flights and easing of border restrictions at least this will give us hope and the security to hang on . You will find that most people who work in the travel industry are glass half full type naturally optimistic with a little help more help from the government we can keep that enthusiasm going and once again bring the joy of discovery and adventure to travelers. And most importantly the extension of Job keeper will keep an industry working that employs thousands of Australians. Thanks so much for your kind consideration. Yours Sincerely Ross Goddard

05.01.2022 Missing Myanmar

01.01.2022 The situation in Myanmar is deteriorating rapidly. The people of Myanmar are desperate for sustained international pressure to be brought against the military junta. Time is short , armed conflict imminent.
