16.01.2022 WEEKENDS ARE FOR ADVENTURES! The Cougal Cascades are located at the end of Currumbin Creek Road, within the Mt Cougal section of Springbrook National Park. A bitumen walking path (suitable for prams and wheelchairs) leads through the rainforest, alongside a series of rock pools and small waterfalls. Designated platforms allow visitors to stop and admire the view. Accessing the creek requires off-path trekking and rock scrambling - caution is advised. Safety signs warn visito...rs of the dangers associated with climbing and jumping from wet rocks. The most popular spot lies below the first viewing platform. My 7 year old son easily navigated along the rocks but my 5 year old daughter required assistance. The track itself is 1.6kms return, looping around the remains of a 1945 sawmill. From this point, families with younger children can follow a dirt track to reach a shallow and much quieter section of the creek. Park facilities include a picnic table, toilets and small car park.

15.01.2022 SPLASH PARK FUN! Enjoy the warmer weather with a trip to the water splash park at Logan Civic Gardens (Civic Parade, Logan Central). A few changes to the venue since we last visited. In the splash park there are additional shade shelters over the seating. ... In the adjacent playground, we were particularly impressed with the addition of new nature-inspired play equipment. The outdated swings, climbing frames etc have been replaced with a wooden nest swing, multiple bay swing set (including inclusive and toddler seats) and rope climbing frame. A wooden teepee, balance beam and stumps complete the transformation. This section is partly shaded by a tall tree, however some equipment is open and exposed to the elements. The rear section of the main playground structure has also been removed - increasing sight lines for supervising parents and providing a shady open space for games and relaxation. 13.01.2022 FAMILY-FRIENDLY WALK WITH STUNNING VIEWS! Located within Springbrook National Park, the Natural Bridge Circuit guides visitors into an arched cave to view a waterfall plunging from above. The track is approximately 1km return, consisting of sealed paths, rocky steps and wooden bridges. My 7 year old son had no difficulties completing the track. My 4 year old daughter was rather tentative on the stairs (they can be quite slippery) and was initially hesitant to enter the cave v...iewing area (it is a little dark). The beauty of the falls however, quickly won her over and she was very proud to have faced her fears. The waterfall can be viewed from several further sections of the track and both children excitedly continued. *The carpark for this section is situated along Bakers Road (off NerangMurwillumbah Road), Natural Bridge. Onsite, there are also toilets and a sheltered picnic table and chairs. **This destination is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes drive from Browns Plains.

09.01.2022 Humpback Whales in Kakadu?! Yep! Three! Parks Australia has issued the following statement: Earlier this week we became aware of a very unusual event at K...akadu National Park - three Humpback Whales had entered the East Alligator River. As far as were aware, this is the first time this has happened. Kakadu National Park staff are monitoring the situation and working with NT government authorities to gather data on this unusual event, an expert working group has been set up to monitor the whale and prepare plans for intervention if required. As of Thursday, it appears that only one whale remained in the river. We have put an exclusion zone in place from the mouth of the East Alligator River to a point approximately 30kms upstream (see map) for the welfare of the whale and for the safety of people who may have been considering going to the area by boat. The last thing we want is a collision between a boat and whale in waters where crocodiles are prevalent and visibility underwater is zero. We also dont want boats to inadvertently force the whale further up the river. The whale is not in distress at the moment and it is not an emergency situation. The best case scenario is for the whale to make its way back out to sea. Kakadu National Park and NT Government scientists will continue to monitor the whale in the coming days. We appreciate that this is a very unusual and exciting event, however, our priority at present is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of visitors and the whale.

05.01.2022 BOARDWALK FUN AT FORESTDALE! Greenwood Lakes (corner of Paradise Road and Forestdale Drive) is the most popular starting point for family bush walks. A wide concrete path travels through the bushland, transforming to a boardwalk as it nears Oxley Creek. A raised observation deck is ideal for spotting a variety of local and migratory birdlife. The concrete path resumes, leading to a fork. To the left, an unsealed track leads to a picnic shelter and boardwalk along the water (the sealed track continues to an exit on Paradise Road).

04.01.2022 FORT BRIBIE ADVENTURES! Looking for a family-friendly day trip? We recently went four wheel driving along the eastern side of Bribie Island. In addition to some lovely lagoons, this beautiful stretch of beach is also home to the historical remains of Second World War Fortifications. We were particularly eager to see the remains of Fort Bribie - eight reinforced concrete structures to the north of the 4WD Beach Access Track. x2 Searchlight Posts ... Observation Post x2 Mine Control Huts x2 Gun Emplacements Signals Operation Room The structures have been significantly eroded and no longer sit securely on their original foundations. It is for this reason that signage requests visitors to keep a safe distance. This did not curb our childrens excitement if anything, it simply added to their intrigue. After our explorations, we enjoyed a picnic at the Fort Bribie Day Use Area. This gave us the opportunity to relax and use the toileting facilities before continuing the adventure. *If you are planning a single day visit you must book 2 PERMITS. FREE Restricted Access Authority: http://qpws.bookeasy.com Vehicle Access Permit fee of $51.50: https://bit.ly/2RI2uUU. It is recommended to pre-book to avoid disappointment.* **Fort Bribie is only accessible via 4WD or a very lengthy walk (approx. 20kms). If you do not have access to a 4WD, G'day Adventure Tours can be of assistance.** ***The beach track is only accessible during low tide periods. A second 4WD track is available through the National Park area.***
