19.01.2022 Founders' Announcement - Transition to Indigenous Leadership -- The GO Foundation was created, and is driven, by a burning desire to create opportunities for Indigenous youth through education. As founders we are so proud to now have over 500 GO Scholars ranging from kindergarten to our first university graduates. As our students have grown and developed so has our Foundation.... From the earliest days of GO, we were committed to building an organisation that puts Indigenous culture at the centre of all that we do. As the Founders of GO, and now as successful business owners and Chief Executives, we are focussed on Indigenous control and management of everything we do. For the GO Foundation this means that our organisation will be led at the Board and the management level by Indigenous Australians. When Shirley Chowdhary took on the CEO role four years ago she was part of this vision and with the Board has agreed to commence the process for the planned transition to Indigenous leadership of GO. Shirley has always put what is best for GO at the top of her priorities and in supporting our ambition to transition to Indigenous leadership, she continues to display that same focus. The Board recognises the significant contribution Shirley has made to GO. With her hard work and leadership we now have more than 500 Indigenous young people in the pipeline of future potential leaders in their communities and professions. As part of this transition Shirley and the GO Board agree that the best way forward is for an Indigenous person to lead the search for the next talented CEO and this will enable Shirley to focus on the next exciting chapter of her impressive career. Wiradjuri man, Jason Glanville, an experienced start-up founder, organisational and community leader with extensive governance expertise across community, corporate and philanthropic organisations will take on the transitional CEO responsibilities and assist the Board in undertaking a national search for an Indigenous CEO. On behalf of our GO Scholars, our team and ecosystem partners we cannot thank Shirley enough for all that she has done for, and given to, the GO Foundation. As our CEO she often reflected on the GO family and that those that are part of this journey are members of the GO family and that is how she will always remain. We wish Shirley all the very best as she embarks on her next adventure from 2021 onwards. We are excited for what the future holds for Shirley and for GO. With Sonja Stewart as our Chair, and the appointment of our first Indigenous CEO, our scholars will experience first-hand Indigenous leadership of our Foundation and when you can see it, you can definitely be it. https://gof.org.au/founders-nov20
