08.01.2022 BODY FACT INDEX I hear of so many people who are influenced into fad diets like Keto, Intermittent Fasting and many others. They may not realise they’re most...ly losing muscle, bone and water rather than the visceral fat (body fat around the organs), and messing with their metabolism making it harder to lose excess body fat. A fad diet is a diet that promises quick weight loss through what is usually an unhealthy and unbalanced diet. Fad diets are targeted at people who want to lose weight quickly. To be fair, I can understand how the vulnerable are attracted to these quick fix weight loss fads that demonise foods. The targeted marketing and social media are relentless. There’s little education because there’s no incentive to teach people who are paying to be reliant on their package or buy their books.
