07.01.2022 -My view about the successor of Sensei Chojun Miyagi- I sometimes see that there are arguments regarding who is the true successor of Sensei Chojun Miyagi. I do...n’t see the point arguing. The historical record is that Sensei Chojun Miyagi didn’t appoint anybody as his successor. So there is no official successor to Sensei Chojun Miyagi. This is the fact. It is up to the individual and to the organization to decide whom we believe to be the successor and whom we follow. We need to separate historical record from the things that we believe. Higaonna Sensei believes An’ichi Sensei as the most knowledgeable student of Sensei Chojun Miyagi through his experience. So, we, IOGKF as an organization, claim An’ichi Sensei as a successor of Chojun Miyagi Sensei. However, at the same time, other organizations or practitioners believe other masters such as Sensei Eiichi Miyazato, Sensei Meitoku Yagi or Sensei Gogen Yamaguchi as a successor, and I respect them all. You cannot go to people who believe other religions to tell that you are wrong, and you must believe my religion. We must respect each other. The only point we may be able to argue is the historical record. This is a matter that we must settle for our future generations. Regarding An’ichi Miyagi Sensei, the historical record is that he trained under Chojun Miyagi Sensei for five and a half years. During that time, he learned all the Kata, Bunkai as well as Hojo Undo from Sensei Chojun Miyagi. Several karate practitioners who knew An’ichi Miyagi Sensei, as well as other students of Chojun Sensei, have mentioned that Sensei An’ichi Miyagi was the most knowledgeable student of Chojun Miyagi Sensei. 05.01.2022 2020 FRIENDSHIP TOURNAMENT CANCELLED! The NSW Chief Medical Officer has issued a new health order in the last 24 hours asking for all regional, zone and state championships and competitions to cease for at least the next six weeks. (This is included this in the comments below). Unfortunately this means our Friendship Tournament cannot go ahead. Despite case numbers lowering in NSW, this order has been given and with your health and safety our number one priority, we will be following the order. We will store the medals, trophies, cups and shield and bring the tournament back bigger and better in 2021! We never give up and we are making our only focus on having a safe National Gasshuku from November 6-8th! Thank you for your understanding!

02.01.2022 We are happy to report that the International Charity Gasshuku, led by Sensei Joe Roses for fighting the COVID-19 pandemic in Chile, raised funds in the amount ...of $413 US Dollars. With those funds, we donated 150 KN95 masks to a local public hospital in Santiago. Our dojo sincerely appreciates your help and contributions! Here are some photos of doctors and technicians wearing the mask. See more
