21.01.2022 With Jim Aitken's permission, I have just returned from the funeral of his late father Robert Stevenson Aitken, With family coming from far and wide to give their final respects to Bob. It was a service with laughter and tears, with Jim and his three sisters describing their upbringing and family life in New Zealand, with their Mum and Dad, highlighting the camping holidays. At 94 years, Bob had a life well lived.
21.01.2022 With the families permission, I can post this photo of the late Ben Woods funeral. His life was bowls, he was Games Master for Musgrave Hill Bowls Club, and we made his funeral portray his love of the game. Awards were displayed for his community service, along with the Musgrave Hill Bowls Club flag. Thank you Julie for choosing Gold Coast Community Funerals.
20.01.2022 With Geoff's permission to post. We were commissioned to conduct the funeral of the late Frank Illich, Gold Coast businessman known for the Ashmore Palms Holiday Village, and keen motoring enthusiast with some spectacular cars in his collection. Karen Tesar led proceedings, Frank's wife Maria spoke of their life together. It was what I call a feel good funeral, we even had a Macaw present, and thankyou to the Church of Christ, Southport, for allowing the use of their facilities.

19.01.2022 With Scott, Brendan and Nicole's permission: We recently had the honour to arrange and conduct the funeral of their late Father, Mr Ray Tucker. The funeral was held at the Uniting Church, Pimpama, led by Pastor Trevor Mildren, with interment in the adjacent cemetery. Eulogies described a life well lived, family oriented and attachments to horse racing and training were mentioned, his legacy was described by a family friend, able to be measured by how his children had grown to adulthood. Rest in peace Ray.
18.01.2022 With Lily's permission: Last week we were given the honour of conducting the funeral of the late Mr Mark Sadak. A proud Croation, his life was celebrated with a farewell Mass at Sv. Leopold Mandic Chapel, with all his family and many friends attending. Pocivaj u miru.

17.01.2022 Chris and Shelly, Teena and I attended a movie screening of Love in our own time, last night, a film about Palliative Care. We were invited by Vikki Strickland, a Director of Hopewell Hospice. It was an interesting movie, with contrasting views of giving life through birth, and the end of life, with an insight into palliative care. Dr. Andrew Broadbent, Gold Coast Health Director of Palliative Care, Mc'd the night and chaired a question and answer session afterwards. One thin...g Chris and I picked up on, was the mentioning of a families almost photographic memory, of what is said or noticed in the first twenty four hours after a death. Funeral Directors are quite often present in that first twenty four hour period, and that is why Gold Coast Community Funerals puts such a high standard on our presentation, staff and vehicles. I have been arranging and conducting funerals since 1979, at W.N. Bull and Sydney Funerals in Sydney, and on the Gold Coast since 1990, it has been said to me many times over the years, by nursing staff, "You have the most difficult job," I have always replied, "No, you, the nurses, have the most difficult job, you get to know your patients." I take this opportunity to thank the nurses and those who work in palliative care, they are very special people. See more
14.01.2022 With the families' permission, we did a funeral recently, for a gentleman who was a full on surfer. We arranged, with the family, for an ExpressionCoffin that put him in the barrel. It was well received, and I have had people approach and speak to me about this funeral.

09.01.2022 This morning Chris and I conducted a funeral for a young lady whose favourite colour was purple. Teena found some purple striped ties, we had got them with some white shirts, she said "I knew these would come in handy." So we wore them to the funeral.
09.01.2022 I was asked "What do you in your spare time?" It's Saturday morning and I am detailing the hearse for Monday's funeral.

04.01.2022 From :Michael Chapel I would like to thank everyone that attended Tanya’s service on Thursday. It was so uplifting to a very sad day for me and and our family and your hugs and kind words and offer of support brought so much happiness to my heart, and knowing that Tanya was so loved by so many.... There were also, so many that couldn’t make it for so various reasons, but I am sure Tanya would have understood. To my family, thank you for your support, together we will see this through. To Laura and Chris, thank you for the love and effort you put into the slide show, I will treasure that for the rest of my life. To Jeffrey, you nailed it about mum, it brought back so many memories that I had forgotten and I will cherish them forever. Thank you Tricia for being my support person, it really helped me knowing you were there. To Tanya’s Dreamworld family thank you so much, especially Sue, Michell and Meg for your magical words. And the age old question, could Tanya really sing or was she putting it on.... well that’s a secret that I and Tanya will only know, but when she sang to me l would be asked with that intensive stare, if I liked her singing, I could only answer either, that was beautiful, and it sent tingles down my spine or that it made my hairs stand on end which always got the nod approval. A big thank you to Pete Alleyne from Gold Coast Community Funerals for making it such a memorable day, without your help and guidance I would have been lost. Also to Father Sid who preformed the service and making that special effort who gave up his time on a Saturday to come the hospital to offer his support to our family and the blessing for Tanya, it meant so much to us. So to everyone I say.... THANK YOU

Pat Tomlinson was the celebrant, and Frank's sister Jenny delivered an excellent eulogy, amongst others. Many came to say goodbye, including several Dreamworld staff. A man with a big heart, he loved Marianna, their six daughters and their families, and all his extended family. He also loved his motorcycles, ride on Frank.
02.01.2022 And in the morning, we shall remember them. Lest we forget.
01.01.2022 With Sue Maher's permission: Chris and I conducted the funeral for Sue's late father, Raymond Christie, recently. Ray had a full life, heavily involved with the motor trade. He had competed in the Redex Trials, and won a BP trial, in a VW that had just completed 12 months service in Antarctica. A replica of that car is owned by Sue and was displayed outside the Church. Sue's brother, Rob, gave an interesting and informative eulogy of Ray's life story, complimenting the memorabilia displayed with Ray, at the front of the Church.
