12.01.2022 Who doesn't want to find an image of their ancestors? Just over 111 years ago, The Queenslander celebrated Queensland’s Jubilee by publishing a supplement, Qu...eensland, a Pictorial memento of her first Fifty Years of Existence as a self-Governing State. The supplement included portraits of early pioneers who had been in the colony for 50 years or more. Thanks to QFHS Publications Team you can now search the dataset of names for your ancestor. The picture is of Pioneer Mrs R Tuck who arrived in Australia on the ship "Parsee" in 1853. Image courtesy of the State Library of Queensland. 10.01.2022 Family History Project Have you discovered interactions between settlers and indigenous people in your own family history? Ashley Barnwell, a Lecturer in Sociology from the University of Melbourne, is currently doing a national study that investigates how inherited family secrets, stories, and memories form Australian's understandings of colonial history. Ashley is looking to interview family historians who have found indigenous-settler relations in their ancestry and who are doing some research into that aspect of the family story. If you are interested in participating, please contact Ashley via this link. https://findanexpert.unimelb.edu.au//708324-ashley-barnwell
