25.01.2022 Hi everyone. The picture depicts players representing the GCFA/CACFA and ASA Football from Sydney. This afternoon we hosted two matches at our partners Coomera Anglican College, with the spoils being equalled regarding the results of the games and some very entertaining play on show.. It was a great afternoon out where players got to test themselves against different opposition as well as make new friends, so a big thank you to Pat and his team for travelling north with th...e players and making it happen. We wish them the very best on the rest of their tour. Also a big thank you to the parents that travelled with the group from Sydney as well as the Academy parents that rocked up to show their support. And lastly a shout out to the CAC groundstaff who worked tirelessly to get the pitch ready. Well done and thank you.

24.01.2022 Early morning specialist session working on fundamentals of first to second touch strikes. Well done

22.01.2022 Different day... Different pitch... Different side... but with the same result. ... Practice makes excellent progress, if you practice with perfection. Well done mate.

18.01.2022 And on a lighter note Stateside... The pictures denote Candice and her friends enjoying festivities. This is the other side of the footballing coin that is also available to Academy members who demonstrate the skill, tenacity, desire and resolve to make themselves the best they can be... both on the pitch and in the academic arena. Here you can see Candice with her friends but its more than that. Their love of football brought them together and some of these relationships will last a lifetime. That's amazing. And with Candice's studies in Sports Psychology going really well too, she's ensuring a life for herself beyond the game when she finally hangs up those boots. Not a bad thing for any footballer to plan... and to do. Well done girl

17.01.2022 Hi everyone, The edited footage is of Candice in the States. This involves two inter-squad 'scrimmage's' that the players undertake at her college and it keeps them on their toes as competitive games are somewhat restricted at the moment. This and the other trainings they fulfill ensure that they will be ready for the new start. Well done

09.01.2022 Back on track with an approx 2,500 touch session. Nice to see them working again

08.01.2022 The photos of course depict Academy coach Fraser Smith. Many know of the work he performs in the excellent facilities at our partners, Coomera Anglican College, and in particular within the Cardio and Fast Feet areas. Indeed some of our newest recruits experienced his tutelage recently and now have a greater understanding of our strength, fitness and conditioning work for footballers. He is shown here today because at the weekend, Fraser achieved his 2nd Dan black belt in... Shotokan karate. This is a tremendous achievement for a young man who has worked hard since he was 11 at the sport he loves; and as those who follow him on his social media accounts will attest, he's dedicated in his training. But there's more to just pounding the road or gym training at all hours. There are the unseen factors of coping with the training, diet, discipline, desire, courage and the willingness to expose himself to defeat... and then to rise again. Its not been easy. Something worthwhile never is. These past 9 years have held many challenges and setbacks but he kept going and with the able support of his Sensei, Dhanash Walatara at Hakukai in Maudsland and others at the dojo too, Fraser journeyed from a foundling in the style, to representing Queensland, then Nationals and then becoming World Champion 2 years ago in Japan. This 2nd Dan achievement reflects his continuous journey in learning in his sport and I am proud of him both as the Academy Head, and as his father. He sets a great example of what you can achieve. I would like to thank all the Academy coaches who support Fraser in his work as well as a big a thank you as I can give to Dhanesh and Debbie Walatara of Hakukai Karate, Maudsland, who invited Fraser into their karate family, and who pushed and pulled when he needed it. He's a credit to their coaching and to the others that helped him on this journey. And lastly a big shout out to Simon and Sonia, who also achieved their second Dan. Well done.

07.01.2022 The photographs depict GCFA and CACFA member Issac Baker. Issac has been with the Academy for several years now and was a major influence in the GCFA's succesful foray in the Singapore Cup a few years back. Working hard, listening and executing instruction are just some of Issacs strong points as well as his affinity for seeing things early. And he's thoroughly benefitted from a training regime that tests and improves players in all dimensions of the footballing components ...we work with, as he has the resolve to work to be the best he can be at any given time. And now Issac is playing National Premier League level with Rochedale Rovers FC and has settled in very well to the roles that this NPL club desire of him. A skilful and communicative member of both academies, Issac is testament to what can be achieved if learning, understanding, hard work and execution is part of your temperament or are willing to learn. He's settling in very well in this higher level of football competition and is an asset to any squad. Well done mate.

06.01.2022 Learning new techniqies...

06.01.2022 Working one of our various rebounders in a touch session. These Academy tools are perfect for working on a wide variety of techniques, including first touch, ball control, passing, shooting and positioning. The tautness of the strings can be adapted to meet specific conditions and they are wonderful tools to have at our players disposal, especially when utilised in our box and touch work sessions.... Here we see Issac rocking the ball in a touch session where he later established a new record. Well done.

06.01.2022 The photo shows just one of the 'S' Drive machines being worked on in the Cardio Room at our partners at Coomera Anglican College, who provide excellent first class facilities for the development of GCFA and CACFA members. The 'S' drive forms an important a part of the programs for our members. It can take players on the 30-second all-out sprints of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and it has the benefit of being user-driven for optimal use in sprinting, HIIT and oth...er protocols. It's incline and flywheel sizes are also designed to find the equilibrium point that allows a player to begin at a true zero starting speed, which of course is important for development and it provides a true-to-life ground reaction force for players of virtually any size. It has other benefits too. Its harness is designed to allow for a complete range of proper upper body movement, which is vital in speed development and other areas and the two separate braking systems it has means that an intense resistance exercise can be adjusted to challenge any of our members. Add to that its integrated handhold bar to simulate pushing a sled of up to 122 kg, it is a marvel of design and real benefit for our members. And what do the players think of it? A love /hate relationship comes to mind... at first But as they progress...

05.01.2022 Working hard during the break

05.01.2022 The goals of the season (minus one) from the 14s squad. And a big thank you to Anthea who rocked up to the matches and filmed the proceedings which we were able to review the following days. It was an immense help. And add to that her obvious editing skills well, if you have a wedding coming up Thank you Anthea.

05.01.2022 Still working hard...

04.01.2022 Hi everyone. The photos depict GCFA and CACFA member Ebony (Curly) Taylor. Ebony has been a member of both academies since the outset of GCFA training at our partners at Coomera Anglican College, and during this time we have seen her apply the dedication and application that is necessary for a player to develop and become truly outstanding in their skill, approach understanding and play.... Ebony works hard at all sessions and her leadership qualities were all too evident too. She takes the time within training to guide others and she drops an encouraging word or sentence to those that need it. Her advice is always on the money and she is a highly valued member and leader of both Academies, being recently nominated captain of the CAC Open girls squad. Hard work reaps benefits and this young lady has been rewarded for her efforts by being selected for Gold Coast United Under 23's womens side. This cannot be understated. This is a tremendous achievement for Ebony who has represented United in Japan as well as other high quality tournaments, and it is a clear indication of the progress she has achieved and continues to achieve, these past few years. Added to that the incredible support she receives from her family and her desire to further her skills and understanding about the game even more, plus her goals for her future well, we couldn't be more delighted for her. Well done Ebony.

03.01.2022 Early morning session working on first touch. Well done everyone...

02.01.2022 The pictures of course depict GCFA member, coach, and Coomera Anglican College alum Candice Parziani. Those that follow this page will know that Candice has been in the States at Lewis and Clark College where she has been studying sports psychology, and making a deserved name for herself with her footballing skills. So it is with great pleasure that we can announce that Candice has been sought out and signed by the University of Missouri - St Louis for the next stage of her... footballing and educational development. This is a tremendous result for all her hard work up to this point as UMSL are reknowed for their footballing style and for being a first class educational facility. I have said this before and will no doubt say it again, that this exceptional young lady and footballer, demonstrates so well the qualities required for success. Her hard work in training, her dedication and her tenacity in learning how to be a better and more accomplished player has reaped outstanding results and she is a fine example to everyone at the Academy of what can be achieved if you put your mind to it... and follow what we term The Academy Way. Don't get me wrong, its not been easy for her at times but nothing worthwhile ever is, yet she's developed the strength to overcome the challenges she's faced and now she's benefiting for all that hard work. And we couldn't be more happy for her. Shout her a cheer if you can. It'll mean a lot to her over there. Well done Candice.

02.01.2022 Hi everyone. Technology is great. Except when it isn't and your phone rebels. I now have a new one but sadly lost a pile of information including numbers. If you haven't already been informed, please text your name to my usual number. Or... take the opportunity and escape :)
