21.01.2022 ~Jennifer here~ Tomorrow is Laidley Horse Sales. Unfortunately the forcast temperatures are 41. Many horses standing in pens with no shade. I hope lots of peopl...e are planning to attend. For every one person who goes there to buy a horse, it's one less that the doggers will get to turn into pet food. Let's hope for a good outcome. At least as soon as a horse is purchased and paid for, the buyer can load their horse straight on the float and get them home. It is going to be a sad day at the sales seeing them in the heat, lets hope the sick and emaciated horses are well taken care of. We have heard there are lots of beautiful horses going through the sales tomorrow. Good luck to everyone who plans to attend and lets hope for lots of horses bought by private homes. Today it has weighed heavily on me that we are so full. As soon as our new Beaudesert Care Facility (run by Amanda) is open, lots of my rescue horses here at Wongawallan will be transported to Amanda to give my paddocks a rest. So the sensible thing to do is not attend Laidley Sales and wait for a few weeks till I have more room and attend the next sales and save a life then. But as you all know......I think with my heart and not my head so I called Amanda today and asked her if I can do a "Rescue Challenge" for Laidley Sales. I can squeeze one more in for a couple of weeks till some leave. Amanda gave her full support for me to go ahead. SO WE ARE SAVING A LIFE TOMORROW !!! I have asked Helen (Our "Rookie Volunteer of the Year") to attend the Laidley Horse Sales with our Treasurer Lori Davis. Helen will choose a horse in need of saving and I will be here at Wongawallan waiting to welcome our new horse. The girls will send me pics of what they intend to bid on. My heart wont allow me to attend another sales, I cannot cope seeing so many horses in need. The funds needed to save a life is quite high. Purchase price, transport costs, Vet Check, Vaccinate, Microchipp, Teeth & Feet done etc etc......these are the basic requirements of rescuing a horse correctly. We believe if you cannot give them all of this, then it's not a rescue at all. So......would anyone be willing to donate to our new "Rescue Challenge" ?? We would love some donations to help us make this possible. We have a special "Rescue Challenge Account" set up. The more shares we get the more people we reach and at the moment with so many rescues who have come i...n we need all of the help we can get xxxxxx We are urgently seeking donations to help with our massive vet accounts. After maisy's hospital visit our current out standing accounts with 2 vets and one hospital is just under $6000 for the month. All we are asking is for 3000 people to transfer to us just $2. We have over 8000 members on this facebook page and all we are asking for is 3000 of you to transfer us just $2.... $2 wont buy you much these days, your flat out even getting a chocolate bar for $2 but when many people donate, it helps the horses in our care more than you know. We only rescue the horses that our funding will allow us to as we make sure each horse gets everything they need and then some but when we get massive bills and not enough funding to cover them we have to stop taking in neglected and unwanted horses until we can get our accounts down again. We need your help guys, just $2 is all we are asking for and your $2 is 100% tax deductable. If you really can not afford to donate $2 to us then please share this status and please tell your friends to share. If we can reach more people we can get the help we need. We can not take in any more horses until we can get these accounts down to $0 and we have a $1000 feed bill as well. With everything that's been going on we haven't had the time to hold any events but we will be in the coming months but until then, all we ask for is 3000 people to donate just $2.. one off with no commitment.
