16.01.2022 FROM SKII TO SEA Friends of GIL, ever daydreamed taking the perfect vacationskiing one day and scuba diving the next? In Japan, that’s no dream! In this post, we will show you the places from Hokkaido's world - class skiing places to Okinawa for its teeming seas and dense jungles.... 1. , - Niseko is the most famous ski resort in Japan, known for having tons of light powder snow, spectacular backcountry and a large number of foreigners - especially Australians - who in recent years have been responsible for popularising the resort area with the skiing/snowboarding community outside of Japan. 2. , - Tomamu is located about 90 minutes by train south of Sapporo. The resort covers two mountains and has a large selection of trails to choose from. In addition to beginner slopes and groomed trails, Tomamu has courses aimed at enthusiast skiers including expert runs, a well maintained terrain park, and sanctioned tree skiing within resort boundaries. 3. , - Just over three hours from downtown Tokyo in the Northern Japanese AlpsHakuba is an experience incomparable to others. The valley can claim more sunshine than its neighbors, a cluster of mountains with wide ranging terrain, huge snowfalls and the steepest runs of the country’s 600 alpine resorts. The region debuted on the world stage while hosting the Winter Olympics in 1998 and has grown to one of Asia’s most popular ski destinations. 1. , - Heart Rock is a well-known place for its unusual phenomena cliffs that resemble a heart . People go there as they believe that seeing it will bring a good fortune to their relationships. 2. , - The most famous snorkeling and diving spot on the main island of Okinawa is the Blue Cave. It refers to one of the caves (sea caves) formed from erosion by the ocean waves. The surface of the water inside the cave shimmers blue because of the sunlight refraction; hence the name Blue Cave. This is the perfect place to experience the mysterious atmosphere created by the special natural phenomena. It is also said that the fish living in the cave are friendly towards humans and will approach divers readily. Have you been to any of these amazing places mentioned? Share you experience with us below

13.01.2022 TESTIMONIAL THURSDAY "What our host families say" (week 10/10)... Today marks the end of our 10 weeks journey "Testimonial Thursday", we hope you enjoyed reading some of the experiences expressed by our host families. Our hope is for (future) host families to make friendships that reach beyond boarders, and that we as a society, move towards a focus on cultural similarities rather than differences. We look forward to welcoming our students and having you share your family with them again in no time!
12.01.2022 What a great insight you discovered, Shin! Didn't you know that Perth people (Perthians) are known to be one of the friendliest people on earth? https://soperth.com.au/perth-ranked-as-the-friendliest-city It takes very little effort to use "please", "thank you" and "cheers, have a nice day", and it definitely can make anyone's day! Or you can always say "hello" when getting on the bus and "thanks" when using the front door to get off - that will work too!

So whether your exchange student taught you how to make sushi at home, or if you're headed out, make sure to indulge yourself with this delicious food!
