23.01.2022 A complex case resulting from the patient being kicked by a horse some years ago at age 9. She had various hard and soft tissue graft surgeries and the placement of 3 implants in the maxilla and 2 in the mandible. The request was for the restoration to be screw retained in layered zirconia . The patient was happy with the arrangement of teeth in the acrylic partial so this was used as a design basis. The decision was made to use a Nexus Plus framework with bi-axial screw cha...nnels from Osteon Medical in Melbourne to provide the necessary support and strength. The design was done using 3 Shape CAD Software by Gold and Ceramics and this was adapted by Osteon for the titanium primary bar and the zirconia secondary frame. Following layering of the zirconia frame with Vita VM9 ceramic the two sections were cemented together with Multilink from Ivoclar. See more

18.01.2022 Due to the position and angulation of the implant fixtures on this case it was decided to use Bi Axial screw channels to optimize their positions. As the Straumann RN Tissue level implants were shallow, we utilised the Hybrid Titanium Base from Osteon Medical (Melbourne), as they have a very low emergence profile. The Zirconia frame was designed by Gold and Ceramics from a preliminary aesthetic setup and milled by Osteon Medical. Layered in Vita VM 9 Porcelain, although lip height was not an issue, the gingival embrasures were closed with pink porcelain to provide a more aesthetic result while still remaining cleanable

17.01.2022 This is a recently completed case comprising 6 E Max crowns, 13 to 23. No back story other than the use of silver plated dies from several impressions combined into one model using duralay transfer copings.

15.01.2022 6 Unit layered Zirconia bridge. Bi-Axial screw retained with Titanium interfaces on 4 RP ex-hex Branemark implants and multi unit abutments. The 3Shape design was by Gold and Ceramics with the Zirconia framework milled by Osteon Medical in Melbourne. The use of the Bi Axial screw system allows the screw access channel to be angled up to 30 deg to idealise their position.

15.01.2022 A normal suction retained full upper denture and a full lower denture supported by an implant retained bar. The 2 piece bar, fixed to Nobel Replace RP implants, was milled by Osteon Medical, and allows for the primary bar to be clear of the tissue for easy cleaning by the patient. The removable secondary component, containing the nylon retention clips, is milled in conjunction with the fixed bar. The acrylic work was tinted with Kayon tinting powders and processed using the Ivocap system from Ivoclar

14.01.2022 Implant Temporary Abutment crown 21, on Nobel Conical Connection RP. The resin crown processed on a titanium temporary cylinder allows for customising of the emergence profile clinically to optimise the gingival profile. This profile can be accurately reproduced in the final restoration in a variety of materials.

14.01.2022 Finished a 4 unit PFM bridge, 13 -21, today. No interesting back story, but a nice result. The margin on the 13 dropped in the photos but the fit was really nice.

13.01.2022 What to do when things are almost at a standstill.....practice crowns. PFM single central layered in Vita VM13 ceramic. No surface stains...all built in colours and effects.

12.01.2022 A nice result of 6 layered E Max crowns. The margins on the solid model are a bit chipped but the fit on the working dies was excellent.

11.01.2022 Two layered Zirconia crowns with milled palatal rests and a Chrome Cobalt partial denture incorporating palatal strap rests on the canine crowns. The design of the palatal rests stops the posibility of the crowns drifting buccally from the movement of the denture while in function. The denture has only 3 incisors due to limited space between the canines.

10.01.2022 10 unit Bi-Axial Zirconia bridge, layered in Vita VM9 porcelain. The implant fixtures are a combination of Bio-Horizons, Neoss, and Biomet3i. The implant in the 12 area has been left as a sleeper so the tissue can grow and cover the healing cap. 09.01.2022 A large and somewhat complex case comprising a single crown, a six unit tooth supported bridge and a five unit implant supported bridge. All units are PFM layered with Vita VM13. The implant bridge utilises a genuine Neoss custom Titanium angled screw channel abutment on the 24 to idealise the position of the screw access hole. The 22 and 26 abutments were cast direct to fixture as part of the bridge framework and the 24 abutment was cemented to the frame with Ivoclar Vivadent Multilink after the ceramics were completed. The bridge and single crown have fine gold collars due to the margin design.

09.01.2022 It's been a while since we had a full mouth rehabilitation on 28 individual teeth. This case used a combination of layered Zirconia crowns on all the upper teeth and the lower molars, layered E Max veneers on the lower anteriors and monolithic E Max onlays on the lower premolars. The preparations and their margins were scanned off individual dies from several impressions and assembled on master models to refine proximal contacts and occlusion. The impression for the 37 was done at the issue appointment for the rest of the case.

08.01.2022 Zirconia has come along way since it started to gain popularity 8 or 9 years ago. Gone are the opaque unlifelike monolithic restorations of 2013 that were only good for molars. The new generation of materials include pre coloured, multi layered, translucent discs that are suitable for use in any situation, from single anteriors to full arch implant supported restorations. They can be monolithic or layered as required. This case comprises 3 single monolithic crowns and a 3 unit monolithic bridge and has had no surface staining applied.

08.01.2022 It's been way too long since I last posted, but I'm forcing myself to take more photos. This case is the result of a motor vehicle accident that left the young female patient with massive dental trauma. Following multiple reconstructive surgeries that included bone grafting, four Blue Sky Bio implants were placed with reference to a preliminary diagnostic design. After integration and healing a CAD / CAM PMMA bridge was milled to asses aesthetics, as well as soft tissue prof...iles and oral hygiene requirements. A second PMMA temporary was milled to modify midline aesthetics and buccal contouring. After approval from the patient, this design was used to create the final prosthesis. The final prosthesis is an eight unit direct to fixture, layered Zirconia, screw retained bridge that includes layered pink porcelain gum. The layering ceramic is Vita VM9.

04.01.2022 Six layered E-Max Veneers. These are really 3/4 crowns with the restorations covering the incisal and mesial and distal interproximals. Scanned and designed with 3Shape, milled in wax and pressed in E-Max Press, shade MTB1, then layered with E-Max Ceram.

03.01.2022 Just completed..... 6 unit layered Zirconia bridge...Abutments 13,21,23...Pontics 12,11,22. Framework designed and milled in house, layered with Vita VM9 porcelain.

03.01.2022 Full upper and full lower implant supported dentures. The primary bar is designed in conjunction with the secondary support structure. The retention clips were not in place for the photos. Sprinkle and dab tinting with Kayon denture tints were used along with the Ivocap injection system. The small grooves above the 3's are to assist the patient with removal. 01.01.2022 We don't often get to see previous work at recall so it was great to see these images. 15 and 16 PFM crowns x-pinned with Bredent screws on RC Straumann bone level implants. These were inserted in early 2009. Clinical by Dr Robert Junner.
