25.01.2022 Today the MBMMC GC participated in the Runaway Bay ANZAC Day march and ceremony. We assisted the Runaway Bay RSL in providing marshalling for the parade. We then rode our bikes at the rear of the march to the claps and thumbs ups from an impressive turnout. We then laid a wreath during the ceremony on behalf of the MBMMC.

24.01.2022 What an amazing experience Anzac Day driveway Dawn Service. Sadly no photos. There were quite a number of families and people in the area out at 6am to pay their respects and homage to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. All was going well till just after the national anthem started when a movement to my right brought my attention to a bush kangaroo hopping across the front lawn passing about 2 metres in front of me then pausing on the opposite side of the drive. He s...tood there looking directly at me right through the anthem and then as the New Zealand anthem started he hopped off slowly up the road and disappeared. Amazing! A few minutes after I had packed up and was standing in my drive enjoying the peace and quiet of the morning I heard this distant and distinct sound of Rolls Royce powered old warbird(s) approaching. They came from the east almost directly over me, a Spitfire and Mustang. A beautiful sight it was. I applaud and thank these pilots who had the guts to defy some stupid bureaucratic order for them not fly as they made my morning as I am sure they did for many countless others as well. Well done boys! Looking forward to next weekend and the relaxing of some restrictions and hope people just don’t go crazy with it. Stay safe! Tramp.

24.01.2022 Nice ride to Jacobs Well. Fish and chips by the water

23.01.2022 The MBMMC GC at the Anzac Day memorial game for the Runaway Bay Seagulls. You'll see us in this video during the silence. A very touching day and well done to the Runaway Bay Seagulls on their victory. Thanks for having us

22.01.2022 Well I have survived another week of social isolation and distancing. Update on the webcam situation. I have been able to source one at a reasonable price. I am left with an older 32 bit Microsoft Lifecam 1.4 including installation disk looking for a home if anyone is interested. It works on 64 bit Windows 7 but not Windows 10. Normally I don’t watch much TV or films although I have Foxtel and Netflix. So curiosity has got the better of me after hearing so many people ravin...g about the series Game of Thrones. Well I decided to check it out and surprisingly I have found it very entertaining and with 8 seasons to watch I can enjoy it at my leisure. A good time killer. Recovery from the back surgery going very well and looking at extending my daily walks to 2km from tomorrow. Got to get fit for the Half Marathon just before Christmas. Don’t forget Anzac Day next Saturday, 6am in our driveways Keep safe everyone. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting a little brighter with every passing day. Cheers Tramp See more

21.01.2022 Another nice ride

17.01.2022 Just had a lovely Christmas surprise from Paypal. They have just given me $37.721,60. Obviously a reward for all my years of loyal patronage. All I have to do now is sign in and register to accept their gift. Bloody lucky actually as I nearly missed the email because it had mistakenly been sent to my Junk Mail box. Really looking forward to the Boxing Day sales now.... I have one question if someone could help me? I just can’t work out the actual amount I am getting You all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous and Covid-19 free 2021. Tramp

17.01.2022 Rain and sunshine ride today, still enjoyable

16.01.2022 Happy Easter to all our family and friends

16.01.2022 Although we are only a small MBMMC sub-branch based here at the northern end of the Gold Coast we are putting out a call to other Veterans who may find themselves a little isolated or in need of help during this trying time. Given the social distancing and restrictions that have been placed on us, we can still be of help if you need someone to talk to or the odd small errand or task if needed. Your best form of contact is to message us (Messenger) and leave us your details a...nd contact phone number and one of our members will get back to you. If anyone knows of a Veteran and/or Veterans family that needs any assistance please contact us also. We as a sub-branch continue to function and are there for Veterans and their families in need. Stay safe everyone! ‘The Task Is Ours’

15.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads and Granddads in the MBMMC. Hope you're all having an awesome day. Cheers.

15.01.2022 It has been a quiet week for me. A lot of little jobs have been done around the house that have been waiting for a long while. I have resisted the urge to go out to Bunnings, as that will only mean more things to get done. I have only had the occasional foray out to get some groceries. I have been poring over my recipe books and looking back at my 'Principles of Cookery' worksheets that I had when I did a 3 month Cookery Course many, many years ago in Canberra. Some of our me...als this week were Sticky Mango Prawns, Lamb Shanks in Stout, Veal Cordon Bleu, Roast Tikka Chicken and Baked Garlicky Mushrooms. The bike has had a thorough wash and a polish. Looks like the car gets one next week. I have been looking at the 15 Gb of my music library and thinking that now is the time to get it properly organised. That is going to keep me out of mischief for a while. Some more phone calls to my veterans, all seem to be going well at this time. As I am a member of our Body Corporate and the editor of our complex newsletter, I have been asked if I would advise in the newsletter if residents could stand at the end of their driveway or patio at 6am on ANZAC Day with a candle to remember our fallen. Also, due to my previous experience as a DJ, if I could possibly organise some sort of system so that we could hear the Ode and Last Post broadcast from the ABC at that time. I am working on that one. Keep in touch with your friends and loved ones to see if there is any way you may assist them if needed, or just get in touch to say Hi. There has been a lot of media discussion around the issue of motorcycle riding during this trying time. There have been many varying thoughts about this. You have to make that decision, but my thoughts are that this is a matter of life and death for some people, and surely not riding a motorbike for a time is not a big price to pay to keep yourselves and others safe. 13.01.2022 Another quiet week at home. Early ANZAC Day morning I placed a flag outside my driveway and played the download of the RSL Dawn Service on a small PA System that I have. Some of my neighbours (about 20 or so) were there to pay their respects. One of the neighbours had made a wreath. There was also a pile of rosemary sprigs on a table that I had placed near the flag. Before the beginning of the ceremony, I spoke about the rosemary, saying they could take some to wear. I advis...ed them that one neighbour was going to lay her wreath towards the end, and if they wanted to, they could also come up and lay their rosemary sprig. At the end everyone came up in turn, and laid their rosemary. Everyone practised an appropriate isolation distance, and as my home is in a cul-de-sac there was plenty of room to do that. Everyone was very appreciative of the chance to pay their respects. Then it was ANZAC biscuits all round, before we dispersed to our homes. I left the flag up and the candle burning until 12 noon. LEST WE FORGET ADJ

13.01.2022 At Mudgeeraba RSL for Vietnam Veterans Day and the 54th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan. Hards, Tramp and ADJ

11.01.2022 I trust everyone had a Happy and safe Easter. Whilst recuperating from my recent operation I decided to upgrade my computer from good old Windows 7 to Windows 10. A task I have to admit I was not looking forward to having gone through many upgrades over the years. I was pleasantly surprised as it was an almost flawless transition and the only problem I had was my old webcam was incompatible (32 bit which would run on Windows 7 but not 10) so I started to look for a replacemen...t. They have become like toilet paper was a couple of weeks ago and none to be found in the shops. Online you can find them on ebay and such places at 2 to 3 times their normal retail price. I think I will have to live without one for the time being unless some good sole can point me towards one suitable for Windows 10. I am looking for a Logitech C270 HD or similar. During the week I quietly celebrated my 37th birthday (I am a little dyslectic these days). No Corona this time just a few XXXX’s But look out next year!! The best Birthday present was from my specialist when he informed me it was ok to drive again just 2 weeks after surgery. Recovery from surgery going extremely well. Almost totally free of any discomfort when walking now. Unlike ADJ I did venture down to Bunnings today. The fluoro tube in the garage burnt out so I thought a quick trip to Bunnings for a replacement would be in order. I drove into the carpark took one look at the great que of people waiting and drove straight out again. It might be a work day trip and very early in the day at that. In the meantime an extension light will suffice. Don’t forget Anzac Day, 6am in your driveway with a lighted candle! Stay safe everyone Cheers, Tramp

07.01.2022 Another quiet week at home. Have managed to re-stain both upper and lower decks, they look pretty good right now. Fixed up some flyscreens and tidied up my office. I have printed out flyers regarding ANZAC Day commemoration and will soon be distributing them throughout our complex. Only outings have been out to get groceries. With a bit of spare time on my hands, I have been able to read some books relating to my favourite pastimes ‘Australia Motorcycle Atlas, Bitch’N Bit...umen (Australia’s Ultimate East Coast Rider’s Guide), Illustrated Encyclopedia of Motorcycles, Handguns and Rifles and Modern Small Arms.’ Keep in touch with your friends and loved ones and assist others who may not be as fortunate as you. Above all, look after yourself both physically and mentally, and if you need to talk things out, there are plenty of brothers and sisters in our Club who would be only too happy to listen and assist where needed.
