21.01.2022 Thinking about what you want to do this Summer?? Want to get out on the water?? First step: Get a BOAT & JET-SKI licence!... Second step: Buy a boat and/or jet-ski! At Gold Coast Marine Training we teach you a range of skills so you can safely get out on the water and go exploring as a competent skipper! We teach Boat and jet-ski licence courses from our up market facility at Runaway Bay Marina on the Gold Coast. The boat and/or jetski licence courses involve a theory component, a multiple choice written test and a practical training and assessment session driving our boats and/or jet skis with our experienced marine trainers. The theory component of the course can be completed either online at home and at your own pace or face to face in our air-conditioned classroom. Once the theory component is finished you are ready to sit the written test and join us for a practical training and assessment session. You can book face face courses, online courses and practical sessions here: https://www.goldcoastmarinetraining.com.au/boat-and-jetski- At the end of the course and once you are competent, you will receive a Statement of Competency. You can take this to Transport and Main Roads to receive your lifetime boat and jet-ski licence which is added to the back of your drivers licence. We are so lucky in Australia that our waterways and coastal backyard is full of exciting and beautiful spots to visit. Make the most of having to holiday at home by exploring our gorgeous waters! We look forward to seeing you out on the water! If you have any questions please email [email protected]

21.01.2022 Happy New Year to all! Thank you to our customers, clients, staff and affiliates for your support this year. 2020 of course had it’s challenges however we managed to adapt, change and roll with the punches. ... As we reflect on the past twelve months I can share many positives that came of 2020. Despite being shut down for a number of months at the start of the year we came back strong and fighting and can only hope we can continue on this path well into 2021. May 2021 bring us: - more time on the water with family & friends; - an abundance of health and happiness; and - beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

20.01.2022 Omg Has anyone seen this before?

20.01.2022 What does this mean? Green over white means fishing trawler at night (Engaged in trawling). Watch out for nets and/or working gear being towed behind the vessel.... The starboard navigation light is visible meaning we can see this vessel from its starboard side. Who likes to head out on the water at night time and are you up to speed with all the light signals?

20.01.2022 13... . Looking a little gloomy here on the GC today, but apparently we’re in for a early Summer preview this weekend with temperatures up around 30 degrees predicted for the Coast. . Definitely going to make the most of it ourselves!!

17.01.2022 Busy busy up at Peel Island this week Where are you off to on the water this holidays?

17.01.2022 Thank you to the awesome team at First Aid Accident and Emergency for coming in and tailoring a first aid and CPR course to suit the needs of our industry and train our staff. It definitely helps when the legend First Aid instructor Wendy is also a Master Class 5 commercial skipper..... She definitely understands what our team may be faced with while working on the water! ... Let’s hope we don’t have to replicate this First Aid and CPR scenario in real life on the Jetski anytime soon or ever

17.01.2022 ... . . Super yacht - check. Tender - check. Ski - check.... . Slide... Hell Yes! Take me there!!!. . Who else enjoys the simple things in life as much as the... well ‘more complex’ things? See more

16.01.2022 Possible Thunderstorms Across South East Queensland Tomorrow: There is the possibility for thunderstorms across south east Queensland tomorrow. So what can we ...expect for tomorrow. Well firstly let's begin by confirming that the storm conditions or environment for tomorrow are not at the same level as what was evident on Halloween weekend across south east Queensland. As for thunderstorm conditions instability, storm or potential energy levels, storm strength and probabilities all seem to be more favourable towards further inland towards the Darling Downs and beyond however with the mid level shear coming from the west between 50km/hr to 70m/hr these steering winds could push any storms that develop on or near the Darling Downs towards Brisbane and the coast. If storms do approach from the Darling Downs these storms could interact with increased moisture near the coast, the afternoon sea breeze and northerly winds to give any storms that move into this environment a little more intensity. The risks with any storms that develop tomorrow could be the possibility of damaging winds, hail and some heavy rain but large to giant hail does not appear likely. However like any storm setup there could be some factors that effect tomorrow's potential and like most setups early morning cloud cover that effects daytime heating could be an issue. Current models suggest there could be cloud cover around the Darling Downs in the morning which could effect daytime heating but also there appears to be some gaps where daytime heating could also occur. If any storms or showers develop in the morning this activity could also limit or reduce the potential for storms during the afternoon. So for tomorrow it appears that thunderstorms are likely for tomorrow however the activity does not appear to be widespread and any storms that do develop do have the potential to reach Brisbane and the coast however any storm development for tomorrow will be dependant upon morning cloud cover and if any showers or storms develop early. Image - Current thunderstorm potential for south east QLD tomorrow at 4:00pm. The blue represents the trough approaching from the west and gradually moving towards south east QLD. The blue arrows represent the steering winds from the west which may move any storms from the Darling Downs towards Brisbane and the coast. The blue circle represents the increase moisture, afternoon seabreeze and northerly winds which may assist in intensifying any storms that move towards Brisbane and the coast. : Images courtesy of Windy. 08.01.2022 Did anyone notice the wind has been relentless lately? I’m sure the super keen boaties have noticed that we haven’t seen weeks and weeks of beautiful glass outs everyday like we normally do at this time of year! This is likely because we have been experiencing the start of the La Niña climate cycle. ... In a nutshell La Niña is caused by interactions that occur between the atmosphere and ocean in the tropical Pacific which brings warmer currents and stronger trade winds to the East Coast of Australia. So what does this mean for us?? Over the next few months in Queensland we are likely to see: - more than average rainfall; - more than average cloud cover; - more cyclones crossing the coast; and - tide height discrepancies (higher or lower tides than predicted). This news is pleasing for some considering this time last year we were experiencing widespread droughts and bush fires. Let’s just hope we don’t see equal devastation in the way of floods, cyclones etc in the months ahead . SOURCE: http://www.bom.gov.au
