25.01.2022 No doubt you’ve heard of Fascia, well this is what it looks like. Fascia is a network of connective tissue that permeates your entire insides from just beneath the skin to deep around the organs. It has several functions, one of which is to bind and support muscle fibres and groups. It’s made of collagen, elastin and a gel like matter called ‘ground substance’. We are mad about fascia and totally intrigued by it. It’s believed that a well placed acupuncture needle, deep stretching and specialised massage techniques can open this goo up. HOW GOOD IS IT? IT’S EVERYWHERE IN YOU & OUR GOAL IS ALWAYS TO GIVE YOU AN APPRECIATION OF HOW MIRACULOUS WE ARE & TO HELP YOU ENJOY YOUR BODY THROUGH GREAT TREATMENTS.
20.01.2022 ***WHY MASSAGE? *** Do you know what you’re made of? That is how your body’s weight is distributed.... Muscle: 30% in females & 40% in males Bone: 15% Fat: 20% give or take & the rest is fluid, organs and gas. Look after those muscles friends. Keep them nourished and pliable via. Movement & stretch Good food Good water Nice thoughts and you guessed it.... REGULAR MASSAGE. See you soon.
20.01.2022 Meet the muscle Iliopsoas. You have one just like this. Even though the words-... Check out the awesome Iliopsoas on that dude have never been said we should all pay it some attention. See where the top end attaches to the front of your spinal vertebrae, then crosses down the hips and fuses to the top of the thigh? Because of where Iliopsoas is fused it plays an important role in everyday activities like walking and running. These attachment points also make it a common cause or contributor to low back pain &/or pelvic/hip instability. You can also see, and this awesome GIF helps to visualise this, how someone who sits a lot (or rides a bike in an aero position for you triathletes) will cause it to shorten and potentially pull on the lower spine..... Ouch!.... Instant Lower back pain. You can counter this by developing the surrounding postural muscles. Pilates is a great tool for this. A good (and hardworking- it’s tough on the hands) therapist can also help. As for stretches does anyone have a good one? Answer with a picture of your stretch. Let’s see your suggestions.
16.01.2022 Worth taking a few moments to read and reflect on this.
16.01.2022 Thomas Myers, a highly respected bodyworker and innovator theorises that the tissue in our bodies can be divided into 12 ‘trains’ of continuous tissue. This picture (taken off a body) shows what he calls the ‘Superficial back line’ which goes from the heel to the lower leg-hamstrings- gluts- lower back- postural spine muscles- neck & into the bottom of the skull. Now I don’t know about you but to me this is SO FREAKING AWESOME!!!... So rather than being made up of individual muscles Myers sees EVERYTHING as a connected network. In the case of getting a good/great massage a tight foot might contribute to back pain. So next time you get a massage for anything on the back of your body- take note and make sure your therapist isn’t just randomly massaging the sore spots.
16.01.2022 Gold Coast massage therapists take note. This is a great place to work.

14.01.2022 Let’s talk about skin what an organ! Quick facts: On average, it covers about 2 square metres; weighs 4-5kg. Skin is not only a protective barrier, it helps regulate body temperature & the synthesis of Vitamin D. But as far as we’re concerned the best thing about skin but a world of sensory information it sends to (and back from) your brain. You see your skin is covered in nerve receptors constantly talking to your brain with feedback about:... The texture of what you’re touching. Pressure. Vibration. Heat & Cold (get dressed dude/ undress dude) Pain (is it sharp, blunt, itchy, scratchy? etc) ALL AMAZING. But the best thing about skin is that a well-intentioned & supportive touch sets off a physiological response releasing OXYTOCIN & also decreasing CORTISOL (known as the stress hormone). Oxytocin gives feelings of connectedness, safety, trust and dare I say.....affection. I find it just incredible that when we massage you we are communicating to the brain in this way as well as all the remedial benefits. #massagetherapy #remedialmassagetherapist # pilates studio # pilates annandale #sydneymassage # human anatomy #mindbody

03.01.2022 Slightly heavy reading but the message is pretty clear. I don’t call it exercise - movement is better, or more inclusive. Move consistently.. Eat as fresh as possible...... Watch your thoughts... Breathe fresh air It’s not too complicated.
