20.01.2022 4 Easy tips for keeping your Pool Sparkling this Summer Flow It’s the most important word when it comes to owning a swimming pool and it’s the one thing that can stop your pool going green. The flow of water through your filtration system does 3 things to stop the growth of algae. Filters the water, oxygenates the water and allows chlorine to be dispensed from your salt water chlorinator cell to your pool. You can check the flow by how much water is going back to yo...ur pool by placing your hand over one of the return water jets of your pool. Test your water every 2 weeks Having a high pH and low chlorine in warm water is the quickest way to owning a green pool. Have your pool water tested by a qualified pool technician or your local pool shop. Brush Brushing your pool walls and floor is no different to brushing your teeth. By brushing your pool you stir up any nasties sitting on the bottom of the pool for your filter to collect and also remove the waxy protective coating on any algae allowing the chlorine to do it’s job and kill algae. Backwash Every month (or more frequently if it has been used heavily) backwash your pools sand filter. Backwashing removes dirt, sunscreens, oils and foreign bodies from your filter and increases flow. There’s that word again. It’s also a good opportunity to add some fresh water to your pool which does wonders for making your pool sparkle again.

17.01.2022 Well it was another interesting week of repairing pools on the Gold Coast. First I was attacked by a so called "friendly dog" that had me pinned up against a pool fence while it proceeded to growl and snarly near my private parts. Luckily the owner was close by to grab the dog while I made a hasty exit into the pool area. If you were wondering no I wasn't bitten on the groin. However I was understandably very shaky after the incident. For the 3rd job of the week I was working under a series of umbrellas praying for the rain to stop and not destroy my hard work. Thankfully the rain finally stopped and the repair turned out a treat and the customer was wrapped. All in all an interesting week. Let's see if this week brings just as much excitement. Without the friendly dog....

13.01.2022 ALL CRACKED UP After 2 weeks of solid grinding, jack hammering and repairing this poor pebblecrete pool in Burleigh is now fixed. All 9 structural cracks are now sealed, tiled and pebblecreted and the pool is looking new again. You might ask why this pool needed so many pool repairs ?... This property backs onto a quarry and every Thursday the quarry uses dynamite to blast new rock which makes the earth shake which I experienced first hand. Consequently the poor pool had structural cracks and rust all over the place. Here are the before & after pics

06.01.2022 We often see concrete pools with no waterline tiles crack through the pebblecrete below the pool coping as has occured in these photos. Luckily we are able to fix this type problem by under cutting with a diamond cut grinder, lock down and pack and re pebblecrete over the pool repair. The other option is to install a band of new waterline tiles.
