23.01.2022 Congratulations to the newly trained firefighters who are ready to respond to incidents in their local area & to support other Gold Coast brigades and surrounding areas. Well done to all
23.01.2022 Thanks to our volunteers who put in some long hours over the last three days. We had crews working in different capacities at the Springbrook fire on Friday and... again today. Our crews assisted in frontline firefighting, manning the Gold Coast Rural Fire Brigade Group tanker, and our Volunteer Community Educator Ian kept the Springbrook community informed by door knocking in the fire affected area. We also conducted a hazard reduction burn in our own area yesterday. #ormeaurfb
22.01.2022 Heads up, Qld! The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Gold Coast. Intense rainfall may lead to dangerous and life-threa...tening flash flooding. NEVER drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it. For flood and storm assistance call the SES on 132 500 or Triple Zero (000) in an emergency. See more
20.01.2022 On this day 19 years ago, 343 Firefighters ran into the World Trade Center doing their job and never returned. 60 Police Officers didn’t return home from that shift. 8 EMT/Paramedics heard their last call and didn’t return home.... Today we remember their bravery and sacrifice.
20.01.2022 This morning our Operational Support Unit team is going through their training on deploying essential equipment to support incidents. They have deployed to a Hazard Reduction Burn that is being conducted by Mudgeeraba RFB. The Operational Support Unit is mostly funded by the Rural Fire Levy collected from Gold Coast residents. State provide the radio equipment, lap top computers and PPE but all other equipment has been purchased from donations and levy monies. This is how crucial the funding for RFS is so this support unit can keep operating.
20.01.2022 HAPPY FATHER’S DAY | From our Group of Rural Fire Brigade families to yours, we wish all fathers and father figures in our community a safe and happy Father’s Day. We hope you have a special day.

19.01.2022 The volunteers at #OrmeauRFB are doing their bit for men's health. Please jump on the link in the post and donate to a great cause. Most men don't want to talk about their health but hopefully this will help start a conversation and also raise much needed funding. Good luck lads and awesome stuff

18.01.2022 Once again we have multiple rural crews in attendance at the grass fire in Carrara. Please see below for further information from QFES. This continues to highlight that our rural brigades aren’t just restricted to rural areas of the Gold Coast. We ask that residents of the Gold Coast continue to request the City of Gold Coast Council to continue collecting the $1 levy on our behalf!!!
18.01.2022 Nerang Murwillumbah Rd is closed due to a fatal accident. For updates on the road re-opening: https://qldtraffic.qld.gov.au/?id=336518
18.01.2022 Follow the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services - QFES page for updates on the Carrara fire.
17.01.2022 We were fortunate enough to receive some gifts in the last week from Bright Horizons Childcare Ormeau Ridge. So far this year we’ve been unable to do any comm...unity education visits to see the children, talk fire safety and let the kids see bushy and the fire truck. So the educators at Bright Horizons sent us a little care package of cookies, paintings and colouring-in to say thanks to our team. #ormeaurfb #thankyou
17.01.2022 The weekend has been very busy for most of the Brigades across the Gold Coast with numerous Hazard Reduction Burns and providing support to the Springbrook fire. There was also responses to local incidents for several Brigades as well. On Saturday there was over 55 volunteer firefighting appliances on the ground attending the HRB's and incidents which would have seen nearly 200 volunteers out in their communities. Now we need to look at the weekend and see what this has cost ...our Group and assist Brigades where possible with replacing drinking water and damaged equipment if necessary. Since Friday the Gold Coast Group has sent out a pallet load, 60 cartons, of drinking water and will need to cover associated costs with catering for the crews as well. There will also be the printing and paper used during these operations so crews had maps and incident information. The money that will be used to cover these costs will come from the $1 levy that is provided to the Gold Coast Group from the community that is collected by the GCCC. We no longer have the time to keep fighting to secure funding into the future as we now have to work on the ground supporting the many volunteers that are working hard to protect their communities. It is now Fire Season and operations on the ground is critical. We are hoping the State Government and the GCCC can work together to sort out this funding situation our Brigades are facing come next year so the community knows that their volunteer Rural Fire Brigades will still be able to function come June next year. #everylittledollarcounts #onedollarlevy #GCRatePayers #SupportYourLocalRFB #volunteer #GCCommunity #hazardreductionburns #2020fireseason #bushfirepreparedness #bushfiresurvival #prepareactsurvive #GCbrigades
