08.01.2022 THE BENEFITS OF ACTING ON CHILDREN The skills that children will gain from learning to ACT will not only help children if they want to become an actor in the future but in every other aspect of their everyday lives. Australian Film Academy's acting classes will help to develop your child’s:... Confidence and Self-esteem: Building these skills in the early years of life is crucial to helping your child develop the inner strength they will need to cope with the challenges of life. Being confident and having high self-esteem will help your child to be successful at school and in outside activities, to make friends, to be happier and will lead to a more positive future. Creativity & Ability to express themselves: Children who are creative and are able to express themselves emotionally are known to have improved mental health, stronger coping mechanisms, and overall healthier relationships with family & friends. Empathy: Acting is the perfect platform to develop this very important characteristic by being able to place themselves into the shoes of someone else and truely feel the emotions that come from the circumstances their character is facing. Social & Communication skills: Acquiring good social skills at a young age is critical to your child’s future and acting is arguably the best way to develop these skills. Children will learn to communicate effectively both verbally and through body language by listening and reacting appropriately. They will also learn to engage others by speaking clearly, concisely and with conviction. Reading skills: There is a lot of reading involved in acting and consequently reading ability will flourish through practice. Concentration: Concentration is a vital skill when acting and by gaining he ability to concentrate for extended periods of time will certainly spill over into their school and home life. Memory: Acting is constantly challenging and improving memory through class exercises and the requirement to memorise lines. Discipline: Children who learn to act will develop self-control through the class expectation to behave in a professional manner during rehearsal, performance and backstage or onset. In conclusion acting will give your child a sense of purpose they will have incredible fun and make a mountain of new friends but most importantly they will be developing essential new life skills which will stay with them into adulthood and beyond.
