20.01.2022 Remember to breathe.... I love this image... as we visualise a wave gently washing up on the beach and softly subsiding, we are reminded of the soft, easy nature of our natural breath. In meditation and yoga, breath like this can be helpful and calm the nervous system which has many beneficial effects. Plus the soft rhythm and sound of the breath is calming for the mind, and let’s us drop naturally into a state of presence Last few places with Suzanne tonight for a pract...ice with a breath focus #yoga #breath #breathe #yogicbreath #gcyc #calm

19.01.2022 I dream to have a connection to the land as deep as those who cared for her for more than 65000 years. Acknowledging traditional owners past and present as 2020 NAIDOC week draws to an end Sunday. Find out what’s on as well as plenty to discover & learn on www.naidoc.org.au, and local events at the @bleachfestival on now.. here’s the meaning behind the beautiful 2020 #naidocweek poster The 2020 National NAIDOC Poster, Shape of Land, was designed by Tyrown Waigana, a Noongar ...and Saibai Islander man. Tyrown’s artwork tells the story of how the Rainbow Serpent came out of the Dreamtime to create this land. It is represented by the snake and it forms the shape of Australia, which symbolises how it created our lands. The colour from the Rainbow Serpent is reflected on to the figure to display our connection to the Rainbow Serpent, thus our connection to country. The overlapping colours on the outside is the Dreamtime. The figure inside the shape of Australia is a representation of Indigenous Australians showing that this country - since the dawn of time - Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal Land #naidocweek2020

17.01.2022 Class levels. Part 2... (for Beginners to L1/2 see previous post) Level 2: We build on our practice and begin to challenge our bodies and minds. Self-limiting beliefs, ambition, lack of awareness are obstacles to overcome as we practice in a way that requires presence, commitment, responsiveness, determination and discernment about which of these is needed. We become aware of the more subtle influences that take us out of our centre, and what brings us back into balance. We ...experience the joys of a strong, healthy body and focused mind. We are more interested in the deep inner journey. Advanced poses such as headstand and lotus are introduced, but options are still given for those whose bodies/energy are not capable of practicing these poses safely. It is not just about what your body can do, but that you have the ability to self-monitor and adapt the practice if there are any limitations that need to be taken into consideration. These can include injury, fatigue or your monthly cycle. We know it’s tempting to want to do what everyone else is doing and overcome ambition/enthusiasm, but the mature practitioner recognises the equal importance of vairagya (surrender) as abhyasa (practice/effort) and has the viveka (discernment) and tapas (discipline) to choose the appropriate options. We also recommend attending our technique workshops or private lessons to evolve the skills required for practice at this level. Level 3: freedom. This is our most advanced level. Advanced postures are practiced and instructions reflect and refine practice rather than teach. Students at this level are expected to have an established practice over a number of years, be self aware and be either competent in the poses or know how to modify safely. Please speak to a teacher before attending this level. Ashtanga info in a following post #yoga #classlevels #gcyc #advancedpractice #pinchamayurasana

16.01.2022 Now that we are allowed more people in the yoga room, there’s fresh and renewed energy in the space ! This also means that for most classes we will have some free spots available, so you can walk in without a booking Please bear in mind, the best way to be guaranteed a spot is to still book through the MindBody app as some classes are still booking out.... We hope this helps in taking some of the pressure off and in bringing us all back together ! . . . . #yoga #community #gcyc #goldcoastyogacentre #goldcoastyoga

15.01.2022 One of the reasons I knew Anita Joy @anitajoytherapies was going to be a wonderful teacher is that her Yoga was always (and remains) a priority in her life - even on holiday as in today’s memory from 6 years ago. No matter what is going on in her life, she is drawn back to the mat - for sanctuary, for insight, for healing, for growth, for joy, for serving and simply because that is her calling, her path... If you are free this afternoon and would love to spend time on the mat with this true seeker, we have places. You are welcome to just show up, but remember booking guarantees your spot. You can book via the Mindbody app, or call 55242883 if you need help #yoga #bali #meditation #vocation #yogaeveryday #firstdoyoga

13.01.2022 Wondering about our levels? Beginners: a return to foundation. Not just for those new to yoga, but anyone who wants time and space in the class to reconnect to the roots, relax deeply, hold awareness of subtle sensations, energy and alignment. Also allows time & space to adapt and accommodate injury, recovery and life changes including pregnancy. 60mins. Level 1 - once foundation is established, and connection to breath and awareness has begun, we continue to deepen understa...nding within the structure of a safe practice. The class is 90 minutes and includes a range of asanas, breath work and consciousness training. You’ll get to move your body and improve your well-being, strength and vitality- but we leave out advanced asanas like inversions, full backbends, dips or any form of lotus. Level 1 poses cultivate the skill and condition needed to move towards more advanced postures without the challenge to the joints, ligaments and muscles those postures can bring. We recommend spending as long as needed in these levels before advancing to more challenging practice- making sure body and mind are prepared and ready to go deeper. Level 1/2: Essentially a Level 1 class that begins to introduce intermediate options. This allows us to accommodate a wider range of students in one class. You know you are ready to try this level when your practice has matured enough for you to know more about what your body needs, and is/isn’t capable of. Although you will still be guided, you will start to be able to self-monitor your energy levels, injuries and ego to choose what pose option to take. We give some instruction for the intermediate poses introduced, but it is highly recommended you attend one of our technique workshops, or book in for a private lesson or two to progress safely. This could also be considered a transition or bridging level between practice that has more focus on instructions, alignment, teaching and safety to practice that goes beyond the body to more deeply explore consciousness, limits of the mind, true freedom and the inner landscape. Although these are included in the Beginner-L1/2 classes, the emphasis shifts slightly. Advanced level info next post

07.01.2022 Love this #Repost @vajra_wisdom with @get_repost The meditation is free of any torpor or excitement.... When your mind remains in pure awareness, with no thought of past or future, without being attracted by external objects or occupied by mental constructions, it will be in a state of primordial simplicity. In that state, there is no need for the iron hand of forced vigilance to immobilize your thoughts. As it is said, Buddhahood is the natural simplicity of the mind. Once you have recognized that simplicity, you need to maintain that recognition with effortless presence of mind. Then you will experience an inner freedom in which there is no need to block the arising of thoughts, or fear that they will spoil your meditation. ~ Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche The Hundred Verses of Advice Shambhala Publications, Inc. #buddhahood #dilgokhyentserinpoche See more

02.01.2022 Wise words from @mini_gee We can talk about our commitment until we are blue in the face, but without delivery, our words are empty. Where we find ourself most of the time is the true indicator of where our hearts lie, or what has been realistic for us, so far. ... Let us not confuse intention with commitment. Intention is the idea, Commitment is the act. Moments of doubt and weakness are natural. Overcoming them is natural also. That’s basically it. . . . . . #urdhvadhanurasana

02.01.2022 Dear students, the home country of our beloved practice is suffering... time to give back to this rich culture that has given us so much! @radha.seva is an amazing organisation that helps the widows of Vrindavan, the sacred temples and any of the community in need, especially at this time Please donate to the charity box on our desk, check out the link in their bio, or donate at our 25 year celebration ... From Radha Seva: Our center has been an epicenter for Vrindavan's widows and impoverished locals who are now in desperate need of help. Our services are and have always been free of charge, and our charity relief efforts for those in need have continued for over a decade, serving thousands of people in need. Now, more than ever, we require critical resources to provide food security for the vulnerable in Vrindavan, as well as oxygen and supplies to protect against COVID-19. We must provide early resources to save the lives of the vulnerable, help reduce the pressure of overwhelmed hospitals, and take on efforts to help mitigate mass starvation. HOW YOU CAN HELP RadhaSeva requires funds for this urgent appeal, and we must be able to continue our services during this crisis and help save lives. Our daily operation costs for these relief efforts are only $1,000 a day, and oxygen concentrators are $500. Your generous donation will allow us to continue this necessary service. Please help us give relief in a time where it is most needed. By working together, we can support people in need and save lives. For as little as $10, you can help us provide food security for one family for up to a week. radharani.com/covid #covid_19 #covid #indiacovid19 #vrindavan #vrindavandham #harekrishna #motherindia #giveback
