20.01.2022 we apologize for the lack of project posts of late so let's bring you all up to speed through the next few posts Freeman Grain Transport! With the team at Freeman grains always on the road in all weather conditions plus grubby muddy farm property's & we all know how much truckers love there toys to be shinning bright, so what better way to help them achieve this shine....... a brand new 320m2 wash bay complete with hand KERB and spoon drains to eliminate those water logged ...boots at the end of a good wash with the weight these guys carry day in and day out we new the boys would certainty put this slab to the test so we suggested and agreed on a 150mm thick slab using 32MPA concrete with SL92 mesh for reinforcement and a non slip machine finish for maximum traction & finished it off with saw cuts to control cracking. 11.01.2022 A few weeks ago we received an SOS phone call fron good friend and fellow concreter Brendan Simmonds from SIMMONDS Concreting in Camperdown. Simmo was unfortunately flying out to the whitsundays for the week ( half his luck ay) but due to the previous weeks rain he wasn't able to get this little gem poured in time. No stress simmo you just enjoys those cold beers and lovely weather! we've got your back buddy....... you owe us big time ... 12 x 10 located in romsey with a nonslip finish which the customer will soon tile and this slab will become there new outdoor entertainment area & just in time for the festive season too. 09.01.2022 2018 what a year it turned out to be indeed! With some massive projects completed with ease, plus some new and exciting business opportunities/contracts on board for the coming years, 2019 is shaping up to be a year to remember! We would like to thank the continuing support from all contractors involved - we couldn’t of done it without you.... A big special thankyou to the boys working along side Ben onsite. Without your determination and passion to achieve the best, we couldn’t provide the GOLD standard we so strongly believe in! We wanted to save the best for last and for a dear friend Kevin Mcloughlin from Surfcoast Anglers with the new head quarters for his pride and joy reel scream. With strict height requirements, we had to give the front half of the first bay substantial grade to achieve maximum roller door height! Completing the inside with a machine burnt finish with water at certain stages to achieve the bluish tinge whilst keeping the external areas rough for traction, finished off with some decorative saw cuts to highlight the hand-shaped wing! Finishing the product with a coat of clear sealer to hold it’s wet appeared , both customer and Ben were over the moon We would like to take this time to all who have continued to follow us on social media. 03.01.2022 Last week had the team pouring a house slab in the new estates of Ballarat. Due to the wet week Ballarat had, this project kept the boys on site until well after dark and in the wet! At Gold Concreting we pride ourselves in our quality finishes and will not leave the job site (regardless of the time or weather conditions) until everyone is 100% happy with the GOLD standard produced. 03.01.2022 Last week saw Ben putting some finishing touches on Wendouree train stations new car park extension. NOW!! Some Concreters would say that the time spent on the finish product seen on a civil project like a car park island infill or a broom finished footpath with a pedestrian crossing isn't as critical as say a domestic project for a private customers finish product would be. ... 01.01.2022 A lot of people are under the impression that to achieve that super smooth, super dark glass-like look on a slab you need to have it polished after the concreters have been and gone & in some cases this is correct! But here is a look at a beautiful finish we call a burnt finish and NO we don't set fire to it lol. This finish is done with precision, time management, an eye for detail and patience’s.... By using a trowel machine or a ‘chopper’ as we call it in the industry, we repetitively hit the slab as it goes through it's stages of curing as the day goes on. With every pass timing is an absolute must! If you hit it to early you run the risk of bringing up too much moisture up to the surface causing it to take longer to go off or even in some temperatures stall out which can lead to very late nights. Hit it to late and you will find it nearly impossible to remove, fill or flatten any holes or imperfections and once the finish is complete, they will be extremely noticeable and at this stage it is beyond repair. The main benefits of the burn finish is mainly to stop unwanted substances penetrating the surface of the slab causing it to stain and become embedded into the slab for a long time and may never come out. It also makes housekeeping a breeze as a simple broom off or once over with a leaf blower restores it back to its shiny state. Please note : even the smallest amount of liquid or winter dew, it can result in your very own ice rink so tread with care or it could be a trip to the Here is an example the boys completed a couple of weeks ago in Beaufort!
