25.01.2022 For most of the year magpies are a beloved part of our suburban landscape. They are highly intelligent birds and live in complex social groups. But for a few we...eks of spring, when they are actively defending their nests, their behaviour can be a little unneighbourly Did you know only 10% of magpies swoop and, of those, 98% are male? As much as you can, you must stay at home. When you leave home, you must use a face covering, unless you have a lawful reason for not doing so. Visit www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au for more information. If you are venturing out, you can avoid being swooped by: Knowing your local swooping hotspots and avoiding them Moving quickly (but not running) through swooping hotspots Covering your head with a hat, helmet or umbrella, or drawing ‘eyes’ on the back of your hat or helmet Never harassing or feeding wildlife. To report a swooping incident by any species of bird, mark its location on Victoria's swooping bird map, visit wildlife.vic.gov.au

With non contact sport and active recreation allow...ed in Gippsland, you might have a few questions regarding the wearing a face covering. Do I wear a face covering while playing community sport? Do I wear a face covering while exercising? Do I wear a face covering while bushwalking? Here's a snapshot of the latest update from the Victorian Department of Health & Human Services. Ensure you and your club adhere to the latest health advice. We expect more specific advice to become available from Sport and Recreation Victoria early next week and will update you accordingly. 22.01.2022 We are sure you've heard the news that as of midnight this Sunday, all Victorians will be required to wear a face covering when leaving home. This means our Wel...lington Shire Council staff will also be wearing face coverings and members of the public will be required to wear them when accessing our services. In addition, we will still require everyone to sanitise their hands and sign-in when entering Council buildings. While disposable masks may be hard to come by due to demand, there are some businesses who do have a supply for purchase and others who are making re-usable masks and selling to the public. We have started a list in our Wellington Still Delivering group, which you can access via this link bit.ly/WSCmasks Please keep safe Wellington residents and follow the latest advice from the Premier and the Chief Medical Officer. Let's try and keep the Wellington Covid-19 tally at zero!

16.01.2022 Have you been wearing a mask while going about your business in public areas? Wellington Shire Council Mayor Alan Hall has urged Wellington residents to contin...ue practicing good hand hygiene, staying at home if you are unwell and wearing a face mask when you cannot keep a 1.5m physical distance. In my movements around Wellington I have seen plenty of people heeding this message and it has made me smile how many people have been making their own face masks and experimenting with different looks to have a bit of fun while keeping themselves and others safe, he said. We all need to work together to make sure Wellington remains Covid-free, we can’t afford to start becoming complacent.

16.01.2022 We have received many enquiries around the use of masks when bowling. The advice from Sport & Recreation Victoria and Vicsport supports the current State Govern...ment guidelines as follows: , (or the Shires of Colac Otway, Golden Plains, Moorabool, Surf Coast and the Borough of Queenscliffe): When leaving home for one of the four reasons, people 12 years and older must wear a face covering, unless an exemption applies. If you are doing strenuous physical exercise you do not need to wear a face covering but you must carry one with you. Strenuous exercise includes activities like jogging, running or cycling but not walking. Bowling considered to be 'strenuous physical exercise' and as such a face covering . From Sunday 2nd August the above will apply to the whole of Victoria. Information for areas outside of Melbourne Metro/Mitchell Shire, as well as a full list of exemptions, can be found here: sport.vic.gov.au/our-work/return-to-play dhhs.vic.gov.au/updated-restrictions-announced-30-july-covi Updated Club posters can be downloaded here: bit.ly/2XusiHJ

04.01.2022 - : Since the Victorian Premier’s announcement of the ‘Roadmap’ last Sunday 6 September, Bowls Victoria and all other sports have been seeking clar...ity on what the planned Roadmap means for community sport. Through a range of meetings and conversations with Government this week, we are still yet to be informed of any further detail or potential for play. This has particular relevance for Regional Victoria who will reach Step 2 (or 3) before Metropolitan Melbourne. We will continue to liaise with Government about when we can return to play, and numbers of players permitted, etc. We understand they are under extreme pressure with all industries seeking advice, but we will keep you updated as soon as we know more. Keep well and stay safe. Look after your mates. Regards, Team BV
