16.01.2022 Do Diamond Head Neighbours want real consultation about the changes to our suburb we've discussed across the past few days? Would it be useful for Cr Landsberg ...and Council traffic officers to join us to discuss and explain the changes and answer the questions we all have? What do you think? Is anyone interested in a meeting to clarify some of the concerns many of us feel? Would you or your neighbours support this idea? What do Michael Street residents think?

15.01.2022 HEATWAVE WARNING Start freezing those enrichment packs! Temperatures are set to soar across Queensland this weekend. Remember your pets! OUR TOP TIPS: All... pets should have an ample supply of shelter and water and do not tether your dog in the backyard. Never exercise your pet during the heat of the day. Sunrise and sunset are the best times to take your dog for a walk in summer and steer clear of hot bitumen. Never leave your pet unattended in a car or on a ute! Watch for signs of heatstroke in your pet! Flat faced dogs (Brachycephalic breeds) are more susceptible. Don’t forget our wildlife! Leave extra containers of water out for birds and smaller animals. If you see an animal in distress contact our 24/7 Animal Emergency Hotline 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625). For more tips (for all animals) see: www.rspcaqld.org.au//pet-ca/keeping-all-types-of-pets-cool

14.01.2022 My latest column in My Weekly Preview has hit the news stands today! In case you miss out on a copy, I've included my column below. Look out for my column in ...the online Caloundra Weekly too! (I'll post this column separately). Increasing community connections Hi MWP readers, I made an election commitment that I would increase engagement with community groups, and while COVID-19 has been hindering this for the past few months, it was great to meet with passionate Division 2 residents at my first community committee on 22 July. We had representatives from the Australian Pensioners & Superannuants League Caloundra, Caloundra Residents Association, Gateway Care, Golden Beach & Pelican Waters Community Association, Neighbourhood Watch Golden Beach, Rotary Club of Caloundra, Take Action Pumicestone Passage, Wildlife Preservation Society Sunshine Coast & Hinterland and the Caloundra Mens Shed. I thank all those who attended and raised important issues for discussion. These topics included: Kerbside pickup for seniors as they cant take large items to refuse centres; Wider roads in new developments to reduce people parking on footpaths; Increase use of Pumicestone Passage causing stress on the ecosystem; Halls Creek development threat to Pumicestone Passage; Reduce light pollution on beaches to protect marine life; Protection of Isabelle Jordon Environmental Reserve; Rotary support for tourist information centre and possible new centre site; Growing concerns over mental health support in region; Public safety on the coastal pathway; Heavy traffic on Caloundra Road; Traffic speeds in school zones; Capped price for tourism fees and charges rather than per square metre; RSL Memorial Garden resumption; Community meeting place for Golden Beach and Pelican Waters. I will be holding these meetings quarterly, or every three months, and so I hope to see you there at the next one at 3pm on 13 October at the Beerwah Room, Caloundra Administration Office, 1 Omrah Ave, Caloundra. Please contact my office on [email protected] to attend. Regards, Terry

06.01.2022 SAVE THIS PHONE NUMBER: Save stranded turtles on Sunshine Coast beaches This is what to do if you find a turtle on your local beach August to October is t...he time when marine turtle strandings spike on the Sunshine Coast. Because its not yet nesting season, if you see a live turtle on the beach during this time, its likely because the turtle is sick or injured and needs your help. Dont put it back into the water - it may be too weak to swim. Instead, immediately call the DES Marine Strandings Hotline on 1300 130 372 (Option 1). They will then contact the relevant agency to organise help for the turtle. The DES Marine Strandings Hotline is the first point of call for any strandings of marine animals, dead or alive save it on your phone now to have it ready when needed! Be safe and look after our beaches
