25.01.2022 It's beach time Enjoy your Saturday!
24.01.2022 What a glorious morning for a beach walk, and Bear is no exception! Our newest GPR family member has enjoyed his romp in the water and is showing so much improvement. Bear is walked twice a day and is shaping up to be more fit and active than ever! He will be having a weigh in this week to give us an idea on how he is tracking weight wise. Bear is off to our wonderful Vets this week for a procedure to remove the two lumps on his back and chest, and also check out his fractu...red tooth. The lumps will be sent away for testing. In the meantime, Bear is enjoying his new life and foster family :) Rescue Doggies Rock
23.01.2022 Stunning 8-year-old Bear has visited our Vets for a wellness check. Bear’s heart, ears and lungs are great. We had blood work taken to check kidney, liver function etc, and that has come back okay. Bear’s joints are excellent; however this boy is overweight at 42kg. He needs to lose around 5 to 6kg which will happen with daily exercise. His food now comprises of weight control kibble and raw food (Big Dog BARF). Bear is also on Omega Oil, Golden Paste and fish oil. Now ...for the not so good news. Bear has two lumps, one on his chest and one on his back which have been present for over a year. We had both lumps aspirated and the lump on his back is fine. However, the lump on his chest shows a few mast cell tumour cells. We don’t believe at this stage they have progressed into his lymph nodes. Bear also has a fractured tooth. Next step Bear is going in for surgery next week to have both lumps removed, and also to have the tooth checked out while he is under anaesthetic. If there is infection or exposed pulp, the tooth will be removed. Apart from this issue, Bear is settling in well with his wonderful foster carers. Bear is storm phobic and we have medication on hand in case required. Bear is also a little reactive to other dogs on the odd occasion which may be due to lack of doggie socialisation. We are working on these issues daily and he is doing very well. We will keep you updated on his progress. Thank you for following Bear’s journey with GPR
23.01.2022 Our senior lady Sophie has been wonderful in the last couple of weeks. She has had a little eye infection but we are on top of that :) She still smiles every day and just enjoys being with people. We know she is looking forward to coming along to our GPR Goldie Gathering in Hervey Bay next weekend. She luvs being fussed over and patted. Regardless of being in palliative care with us, with all the TLC she has, we think she will outlive us all! <3 <3
23.01.2022 It is pawsome to see this little fluffy bum Miss Sophie roll around after her bath and blow dry. She just luvs the sunshine
22.01.2022 Doggie Update: Nothing more pawsome than waking up to a beautiful Goldie enjoying his new life. Looking fabulous Banjo, lots of luv <3 <3
21.01.2022 Good morning from Miss Daisy This little lady is off to our Vet again today to check her stitches and her ear infection, hopefully there is improvement. The soft cone she wears is to restrict her from scratching her eye and her ears while she heals.... She will be visiting our wonderful Vets several times in the next 14 days for check ups and to continue with her cartrophen injections. And some marvellous news as well - she ate a green lip mussel yesterday - WOO HOO ! We are hopeful that Miss Daisy will be doing a lot more smiling in the coming weeks <3 Thank you for following Miss Daisy's journey with Golden Paws Rescue
21.01.2022 Lovely Louis - check out that smile and his new bandana !! This 9 year old boy is doing so well with his foster carers. Louis is walked twice a day, around 20 minutes at a time. He just luvs being inside with his hoomans and his foster fur brother Louis will be at the beach this Sunday morning for our Goldie Gathering if you would like to come and say hello. Information about our meet up is listed on our website under "Current News".... 21.01.2022 Hello my friends Mum says that there has been a pawsome response to the post about GPR merchandising. As you can see, I'm flat out helping Mum get together the items ready for postage ;) She says I'm doing a really good job coordinating things! Mum wants to say thank you to all you hoomans for purchasing these items, especially the wonderful people in Victoria. I have a friend, Bear, who is in care with GPR at the moment, and he is having a procedure next week which will co...st around $1,000, so your support with this merchandise is definitely going to help Bear! I'll continue to support Mum through the night, using my efficient breathing techniques to master the art of relaxation. Mum said she will just drink wine. Not sure what is best here ;) Thank you for following GPR Your friend, Sophie xxx
21.01.2022 Dear Darcy and Ruby Thank you very much for my lovely pressie that arrived in the mail. I have been carrying it around while I'm waiting for mum to feed me that raw BARF stuff. While my brother and soul mate Leo doesn't look impressed, I know he really likes his pressie too. He just always looks like that ;) Thank you for thinking of us.... Luv from your friend Sophie xx
20.01.2022 UPDATE: The Council have located the owner and doggie has gone home! Thank you to everyone who has sent us emails and text messages yesterday regarding the Goldie that was found and taken to Mackay Hospital, and then to Mackay Regional Council.... We have been in touch with the Council personnel this morning and have registered our interest to assist this doggie should the owners not come forward. There have been other people that have also registered their interest. If this lovely soul does not find his family, and we are fortunate enough to help him, we may be asking for help with potential transportation to Hervey Bay. We will advise once we have further information from the Council. There obviously are procedures that are in place regarding doing his "time" at the Pound, prior to decisions being made. Thanks again everyone. We will keep you posted.

18.01.2022 Open for Discussion! What do you feed your doggies? Do you include supplements to your doggies diet (ie: Omega oil, flaxseed, joint supplements etc).... Sophie is currently on Grain Free dry kibble in the morning with Rose Hip Vital, Omega 3,6,9 oil, Golden Paste, Osteocare Joint Health chews, Osteosupport Powder, Simply Seaweed Ascophyllum nodosum (we know, it sounds like an awful lot!). At night time Sophie has Big Dog BARF raw food with Omega oil, sardines in springwater and medication from our Vet. She also has a raw egg once a week! Dependent on the Goldie we have in care, will depend on what we feed them. We totally understand that while some of us feed a raw diet, it isn't always practical for others. There is no right or wrong answer here, just sharing information! Interested in your comments
17.01.2022 What a golden morning we shared at our Gathering in Hervey Bay. Thanks to everyone who dropped in for a little visit, and lovely to meet new people, and doggies as well! Our gorgeous lady Sophie had a pawsome time, and was very social. It was touch and go there for a while, with one particular lady, wanting to take Sophie home, followed by another gentleman who was quite taken by her! ;) On a serious note, Sophie is doing so well, and thank you to "Aunty Jacqui" for spendi...ng lots of time with her today. Her blindness and her cancer have not slowed her down at this stage, and to see her out and about is very special. Wonderful to meet Ollie and his dad who were on the way back from holidays up north. <3 We will be posting extra pics soon of our morning, and they will also be shared on our website (under "current news") Thanks again for a brilliant day - Rescue Doggies Rock

She has a tiny infection in her ears, which we are dealing with this week, but nothing to be concerned about. Dixie is now vaccinated. We start puppy school with this little girl in the next week to assist with socialisation ...and manners, this is so important as a foundation for any puppy. We will keep you posted on her progress. 07.01.2022 Harry and Holly <3
07.01.2022 We would like to introduce you to the newest member of our GPR family. She was found wandering the streets in obvious discomfort and was held for some time by a caring Vet. No one came forward for her. No one claimed her. She had no name. The appropriate authorities were all notified. Her post was shared over 100 times. Still no one came forward. This approximately 10-year-old lady has been in quite a state for what appears to be some time now. This type of neglect doe...s not happen over a couple of weeks. She is very thin at 19kgs, she has badly infected ears internally, and the outside of her ears are fly bitten and scabby. She is wobbly on her legs and has a lot of muscle wastage. Whilst she craves human company, she has clearly not been socialised with dogs and has no idea how to react, other than to growl. This is not her fault. As a result, we have moved her up to Hervey Bay early this morning to our foster carers who do not have another dog in residence. We also believe she is hearing impaired and could quite possibly be deaf. We will be booking her into our Vet as soon as possible to be microchipped, heartwormed checked and a whole range of bloodwork, as well as getting her ears fixed, and checking her legs and spine. There is a lot to do here, but like all our beautiful pooches in care, she is worth it. She now has a name, she has a family, she has a village. Please say hello to our beautiful Labrador, Daisy <3
07.01.2022 DOGGIE UPDATE: Beautiful Abbie on the Sunshine Coast - just living her bestest life ever :) Mum and Dad have found a new watering hole for Abbie and her fur brother to play, and they LUV IT !... Always a pleasure to see you Abbie and that gorgeous face <3
