22.01.2022 PLAYER MILESTONE POST Congratulations to Pete Appleton for playing his 100th game at Golden Point this weekend. Apples will be playing at the Northern Oval on Saturday in the First Grade Pete is a left arm orthodox bowler whose variations of flight and speed always have the batsmen guessing. He has impeccable control as well, being able to tie batsmen up until they make a mistake (economy of just 2.5 an over). Just last weekend, Apples passed 700 First Grade Saturday ...wickets throughout his career, a mighty impressive effort! Pete’s Stats: 851 runs @ 16.67 (1 x 100, 1 x 50, Best Batting of 104no) 183 wickets @ 17.18 (8 x 5 wicket hauls, Best Bowling of 7/42) 25 Catches Once a Pointie, Always a Pointie

18.01.2022 COVID UPDATE As you would all be well aware regional Victoria is set to re-enter stage 3 restrictions from midnight Wednesday. Stage 3 restrictions will have major impacts on many of our Pointie community and our thoughts are with our players, their families and our sponsors during this time. These impacts may create great financial and psychological toll on many of us and we would like to remind everyone to stay connected and support each other through these coming wee...ks. These restrictions include include halting all community-based sport and consequently our senior pre-season training, due to begin on August 16th, will be delayed until these restrictions finish. Junior pre-season training has also been postponed until further notice. Our coaching team have been working tirelessly through this ever changing situation, preparing and adapting for all eventualities. These plans included a stage 3 scenario and some of these plans will be communicated to you all in the coming weeks. Our apparel order form will be available soon and despite the uncertainty surrounding the start of the season it is important to order any critical apparel (playing shirts or cricket pants) by the due date. More information will be circulated shortly. Until then please stay safe, stay connected and, where possible, please support our wider GPCC community. "Once a Pointie, Always a Pointie"

12.01.2022 ROUND 5 MILESTONES Getting milestones out of the way early this week, Stay tuned for a very big milestone coming up tomorrow... #gpcc Once a Pointie, Always a Pointie

12.01.2022 PLAYER MILESTONE POST As foreshadowed this week, Mark Van De Heuvel is playing his 350th game this weekend at White Flat. Mark will share this experience alongside his son Bailey this weekend in the White team, playing against our Blue Golden Point team, a first for the Golden Point Cricket Club Mark is a player that came up through the junior ranks and immediately became heavily involved in coaching the juniors. He has captained the 2nd XI, 3rd XI and 4th XI, and pla...yed in the 1988/1989 1st XI Premiership as a last-minute replacement for an injured Robert Orr and took 4/15 in the first innings as a 19 year-old. He has represented Ballarat at Melbourne Country Week and is our second highest wicket taker at Golden Point, only behind Neil Lee. As well as being a Committee member for a number of years, he became President in 2006/2007 and held this position for 12 consecutive years. Mark was made a life member of the club in 2008 for the above efforts on and off the field. Mark has won 10 premierships throughout his time at Golden Point, including captaining two of these. Later in his career, he has had the opportunity to play cricket alongside both of his children Bailey and Sophie. He is currently our Chairman of Selectors and is playing a pivotal role on game day in our Fourth Grade development squad, imparting his wisdom and the Golden Point way to the next generation of Golden Point cricketers. Many would say the best thing about Hoove as a cricketer is that he is always up for the fight. You can always throw the ball to him when the chips are down, and he will grit his teeth and come through for the club with a wicket. He does this with the bat as well, being a reliable batter that won’t throw his wicket away. We wish Mark all the best for this game and hope that many of his teammates can come down to the game at White Flat or to the rooms after the game to celebrate Mark Van De Heuvel, the Golden Point Cricket Club Legend. Once a Pointie, Always a Pointie Stats 3536 runs @ 20.25 with best batting of 127 NO (3 X 100s, 11 X 50s) 587 wickets @ 19.03 with best bowling of 7/60 (22 X 5 wicket hauls) 100 Catches
