23.01.2022 Scams!! There have been quite a few people caught out by scams involving the purchase of a puppy. As the club members have contacts all over Australia we are aware of the majority of these scams. Please contact the club to enquire about breeders , we can tell you straight away if they are registered or a scam we know about, if we don't know we can usually find out and let you know. Some Warning signs to look out for on websites:... Prices below $3000, most registered breeders who are club members are charging between $3500 - 4000. -Website only gives an email contact on page - any good breeder wants to speak to you not just email back & forth. -Weights listed in pounds and ounces- vast majority of Australians deal in grams & kilograms. -A Store on their website where their puppies are listed- reputable registered breeders don't do this !! -Adoption process- Breeders sell puppies they do not adopt them out to people. -One website says their Golden Retrievers are descended from expert herding dogs- Golden Retrievers are used to retrieve game they are not herding dogs. - Carefully read the website, you will often see poor English, or reference to things or places that are not Australian eg Ranch, we don't refer tp properties as ranches in Australia. The link below is a scam, it looks like a good website and will catch the unwary, do not purchase from sites such as this!! Supposedly from the Northern Territory! https://retriever-home.com/contact-us/ Anyone who has been scammed by these people needs to report them via the Australian Scamwatch website. https://www.scamwatch.gov.au So please contact us via the email address on this page or via the Messenger link before you commit to buying from a site such as this, we will get back to you as soon as we can.

17.01.2022 Welcome! You've found the Golden Retriever Club of Victoria page. Our page is a place for sharing Club information, getting advice, and celebrating the joy of Goldens. We will use the page (and our website) to promote upcoming events such as conformation shows, working and discipline trials and activities, fun days, socialisation events and educational events and activities (once these activities are able to recommence post Covid).... The page is a great way to communicate with other Golden owners, ask questions and source information you may need. Everyone who has a genuine interest in Golden Retrievers is welcome. Please take the time to read the Page Rules under the About section. All posts are moderated and we ask that you become familiar with the Page Rules before posting or commenting. We look forward to creating a positive and respectful space where we can all share our love of this wonderful breed, and perhaps pass on knowledge and experience to those looking to learn more about Golden retrievers. 14.01.2022 Warning: Another scam has come to our attention. The email address of a breeder in NSW has been hacked and the hackers have emailed her puppy buyers asking for $1000 deposits. If you're unsure about any emails from breeders please double check.

03.01.2022 Statement from GRCV Committee We wish to advise all members of the Golden Retriever Club of Victoria’s Facebook Group and Page followers that the Club and the Puppy Enquiries Officer along with many of our members who are breeders do not know of anybody who has puppies available. We understand that the people looking for a puppy are getting frustrated and upset as they cannot find a puppy, but this is unfortunately out of our control.... The Golden Retriever Club is getting at least 50 to 100 enquiries each week and it is impossible for us to keep up with this amount of enquiries. The Club does not have a waiting list, breeders are responsible for selling their own puppies and take their own waiting lists (some breeders do not take waiting lists). We cannot take your name and inform you of any upcoming litters as this would be impossible to administer. It is ok to check in via email every couple of months to see if the Club knows of any new litters. If you have been advised to contact the Club, the Club will advise you to contact breeders and check with them. Please be patient. A puppy will become available, but you may have to wait a while. PLEASE DO NOT PAY A DEPOSIT FOR A PUPPY UNTIL YOU HAVE CONFIRMATION THAT THE BREEDER HAS A PUPPY FOR YOU. MAKE SURE IF YOU DO PAY A DEPOSIT THAT IT IS REFUNDABLE. DO NOT PAY A BOOKING FEE FOR A PUPPY, AS IN MOST CASES THIS IS NOT REFUNDABLE, A BREEDER CANNOT GUARANTEE YOU A PUPPY UNTIL THEY ARE BORN. PLEASE BE CAREFUL, THERE ARE MANY SCAMMERS OUT AT THE MOMENT PREYING ON PEOPLE DESPERATE TO GET A PUPPY. More information is available on the Club website www.grcv.org.au/looking-for-a-puppy
