03.01.2022 #stayathomecookwhat I think we are blessed in Melbourne. Because of the shutdown sans lockdown, we get to order fresh seafood and get them delivered to our door...steps. Thanks to Uncle Buffalo Joshua Ong and Dave Chin via their live seafood show on Thursdays. Dont want to sound biased. I am sure, there are other suppliers too. It's just that these gentlemen, particularly Joshua, are familiar to me. Let's do the maths: One fresh (one kilo) Barra costs me about $20. I cooked them at home..my, oh, my.....it's so fresh!...even after I keeping it in the freezer for three days. Today, I used dehydrated sour white plum to add to the steamed fish. Love it! During non coronavirus days, I would have to spend, what...$40? $50? to have this Barra in a restaurant. Of course, by paying this amount I don't have to cook and wash in a restaurant. My point is, I never thought I could cook fresh seafood at home. It now is an option.. and its possible due to the shutdown sans lockdown. Thanks to these guys, and possibly others, for being innovative, and due to their hardwork. Anyway, my kiddo cooked Vietnamese spring rolls with net texture skins. Interesting. Nice with a accompanying dip. I stir fry kang kang...I mean, kang kung..and cooked a soup..and wahla.. our dinner all ready!
