23.01.2022 $200 to take a trip! Round 2 of the State Government's $200 regional travel vouchers will be available tomorrow, January 20, from 10am. Vouchers can be redeemed for the period March 11 2021 to April 15 2021. Each household is limited to one voucher which gives the voucher holder the right to claim for a reimbursement of $200 if they have spent at least $400 on accommodation, a tourism attraction or tour in regional Victoria, including the Yarra Valley, Dandenong Ranges, Mornington Peninsula and the Victorian alpine ski resorts. So that our publication truly represents the best our community has to offer, we are inviting local photographers and visual artists to enter our competition for a front cover images. The image should depict an aspect of life in the Central Goldfields. As well as the chance to win $100 local shopping voucher, your work will be displayed on the cover of Goldfields Getaway on 12000 editions in more than 100 venues throughout the state. We will also include an editorial interview with you. 17.01.2022 Maryborough Harness Racing Club is excited to welcome people back to the Trots this Friday, January 15. Les Chapman said it is important for people to book ahead of time by calling 54642451 or 0418552294. While it is not your usual day at the races, we are extremely happy to again have patrons on course, Les said. You will be requested to complete an infectious diseases declaration before being granted admission. At this stage masks must be worn inside apart from when you are eating and drinking. Admission is free and gates open at 11.15 am. The first race will be run at 11.52, there will be a TAB operating on course and bar service and dining is available.

17.01.2022 Local artist and historian John Moir is just one of many small businesses throughout the Central Goldfields preparing to welcome visitors back to the area. As well as opening Alvah Art Gallery and Car Display in Dunolly, John will again be leading personal historical tours throughout the area for up to two people at a time. Bus loads can be catered for as well. We’ve made sure we’ve put all Covid safety measures in place, with limited numbers in the galleries and car display with masks and thorough cleaning and sanitising John said. 05.01.2022 Central Goldfields Art Gallery is hosting a fantastic exhibtion from 4 July 16 August The Many Story Treehouse Exhibition: Celebrating Terry Denton’s illustrations for the phenomenal Treehouse series by Andy Griffiths & Terry Denton is the new exhibition on display. This is an exhibition of Terry Denton’s original illustrations, sketches and layouts showing the development of crazy ideas, characters and stories for the phenomenally successful Treehouse series developed with... author, Andy Griffiths. The exhibition comprises original framed works along with books and story boards showing the design process. The exhibition also includes all the original illustrations for all nine titles of The Treehouse books. Children are encouraged to draw their own ideas on a giant treehouse mural created by Terry Denton especially for Central Goldfields Shire which also forms part of the exhibition experience and which will remain in the community.
