Our Research of 2 years is significant and evident that there are extensive risks and the risks are so great; this form of ultrasound on the unborn child is not approved. Ask the person if they are a member of the "Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine" or if they have been formaly trained in Ultrasound? If they say no, you too should say no to 3D Ultrasound. Remember that Grey Scale or M Mode, is very safe and has significant research to support its usage. Indeed normal ultrasound can save lives through rapid access to "fast views" allowing the Doctor to treat obscure internal bleeding, as one example. Echo Cardiography has seen many positive outcomes, but all performed in skilled and trained hands. 3D Ultrasound requires a great deal more research. Like any advancing science, we use it until we discover the potential risks which may result in changes in how you use the science. With 3D Ultrasound, at the very least, one would expect the operator to be educated in its safe usage and have a solid grounding in the physics of ultrasound as required by professional Sonographers or Ultrasound operators accredited by the Australasian Society for Ultrasound In Medicine. Even Medicare will not provide rebates on 3D ultrasound due to the lack of any diagnostic benefit. As research progresses, it is very likely 3D ultrasound may prove to be invaluable in trained hands and on not so fragile tissue development as seen in the growing foetus. . 23.01.2022 Our practice is fully equiped with some of the layest Audiometric testing devices and meets Accreditation Standards for Work Cover assessments. In addition to Audiology our practice caters for Ear,Nose and Throat (ENT) assessments and interventions with the aid of A Specialised Microscope to examin the deep internal structures of the ear, nose and throat. This allows early intervention and treatment at the time of consult. From Basic Air Conduction Testing, Bone Conduction, V...oice auditory assessmets and reflex tymmpanometry; We can assess your ENT reqirements and progress you toward treatment in a timely manner by having the equipment and skilled staff on hand, so you do not have to travel to Larger City Centres, to access these advanced assessments and gain intervention at the point-of-care. We are also very fortunate to have Audiologists visiting regularly to fit and calibrate hearing aids. This service is provided by ACCB Hearing specilaist Audiologists. Wax build up in the ears can be quite a problem. We meet the national standards by providing vaccum extraction under microscopic aided views to limit well recorded injury caused by the OLD and no longer conscidered safe ear syringing. This practice: ear syringing, is no longer accepted as best practice and has been attributed to significant injury in the past. Children are consulted by our trained Audiometric officers free of charge Early Age hearig problems can lead to significant learing problems later. Feel free to call us and book a consult if you are concerrned that your child or even adult may have hearing problems. Remember to wear hearing protection using common household appliances such as a lawn mower, whipper-Snipper or power tools. Many cases of hearing loss is attributed to accumulated excessive noise exposure over your life. protect your ears to prevent the accumulation of excessive noise such as a lawn mower leading to your future hearing loss. Such loss can isolate people from conversations, social events and even make watching TV difficult. Prevention is always better than cure so act now and use ear protection.

22.01.2022 EAR INJURIES DUE TO EAR SYRINGING We have been seeing a lot of ear injuries of late due to the now, unacceptable ear syringing still being carried out to remove wax!! Please avoid any form of ear pressure devices that squirt water or any other liquid into the ears at all. The result is that it pushes the wax down the cannel and has the ability to damage the ear drum, assuming that it is not already damaged. If the Drum is rather infected, it can be eroded leaving a hole in ...it and syringing: pushes the infection further into the posterior chamber where the bacteria then co-habit the chamber and can move into the sinuses and nose. The accepted method of ear toilets is vacuum extraction under microscopic aided viewing; which is performed at our practice and is fully Bulk Billed where possible. The procedure is performed by our trained professionals through the Perth ENT Avant Centre. 03.01.2022 Comprehensive ENT Dedicated Treatment Facility at our Hannan Street Clinic staffed by Trained ENT consultants through AVANT centre in Perth. No More Ear Syringing and Water Jets to remove wax - Water syringing or jets are no longer seen as a safe method of ear wax removal ( or any other item removal ) from the ears. A dedicated Microscopic and aspirational vacuum with the prescribed diameter suction tubes and associated ear care equipment are now minimum standard. This is to... ensure safety and effective management. Syringing can push the wax further down te ear or even past the ear drum caused by pressure rupturing the drum leading to long term sinus and ear infections. It really is a no brainer if you think about it. Referral to an ENT specialist is advisable if you are unable to secure a consult at our Hannan Street Practice. Prior to referral to an ENT specialist a full Audiometric Air conduction Test and Reflex Tympanometry Test would be invaluable for the ENT Specialist: Both tests and ear vaccume can be performed at our Hannan Street Practice by our trained and certified staff. We can also refer direct to the ENT specialists if required. In addition we clean hearing aids. Protect your hearing when mowing the lawns, using power tools drills with wax ear plugs purchasable through Coles and Chemists if usual foam plugs cause you difficulties. If you are asked to use ear drops, do so however place a wax ear plugin for at least one hour after to allow the medication to remain in the ear to do its job. See more
