24.01.2022 The Goldfields Cyclassic & Community Fondo is a unique and iconic event, not to mention being the richest handicap race in Australia. Without the generous sponsorship and support of our sponsors this race would not exist. The Eastern Goldfields Cycle Club Inc (EGCC) and the Shire of Menzies have a long partnership and history with the Menzies Classic now in its 92nd year. 24.01.2022 Eastern Goldfields Cycle Club Inc has made available an Early Bird registration package for the 2020 Goldfields Cyclassic & Community Fondo that will provide both serious and social riders with a great weekend of cycling, socialising and a memorable experience at a very affordable price. Here’s the breakdown of the fees: Goldfields Cyclassic Entry Fee: $170. Entry fee includes an event jersey and dinner at the Menzies Classic Awards Ceremony in the Menzies Town Hall on Saturd...ay, 30 May 2020. Community Fondo Entry Fee: $105 per person Entry fee includes an event jersey and dinner at the Menzies Classic Awards Ceremony in the Menzies Town Hall on Saturday, 30 May 2020. Charter Flight: $130 Total cost of a return flight from Perth to Kalgoorlie, Leonora to Perth. Seats are limited on the charter flight so be sure to book early. Charter flight is being provided by Alliance Airlines. Note: Licencing will be a separate cost if you do not already have a licence. Offer does not include accommodation. 24.01.2022 After the disappointment of the 2020 Cyclassic being cancelled due to Covid, we're looking forward to being back in 2021! Mark the date in your calendar and come along. We'd love to see you there!

Although the Early Bird pricing has closed, there is still lots of time to enter our great event and to enjoy a cycling adventure in the Goldfields. 14.01.2022 Entries are looking good for this year's Cyclassic and Community Fondo. So far there is an even spread across the grades with some awesome A Grade teams competing. The competition should be hot!! But its not only line honours that the riders compete for, there are four sprints along the way to Menzies from Kalgoorlie and three from Menzies to Leonora. The first sprint is Gidgi Roaster. The Gidgi Roaster sprint is the only one where the first person across the line in ea...ch Grade will win a coveted sprint jersey. 12.01.2022 I hope all riders are safe and well and managing to do some cycle rides, of course while keeping your social distance. Here in Kalgoorlie, there is a record number of people out on their bikes which is very pleasing to see. Lets hope it translates into increased entries for next year's event and more EGCC club members. If you are one of the riders who opted to purchase an event jersey, please be aware that the delivery of these has been delayed. We are hopeful that they will arrive mid-May. 09.01.2022 For those of you who are thinking about riding the 2020 Goldfields Cyclassic or the Community Fondo, I encourage you to enter. Although the Early Bird has finished, it is still a great deal for a wonderful weekend of riding. Your entry fee includes an event jersey (but only up to 23 April to allow delivery on time) as well as dinner at the Menzies Town Hall on Saturday night. The flight is exceptional value at $250 return if you are coming from Perth. Seats on the flight are extremely limited so be in quick to take advantage of this option. Its going to be a very exciting weekend of riding.

08.01.2022 In keeping with the Health Department and Government’s announcements around all non-essential public gatherings, and as a mitigation strategy against the spread of COVID-19, we have made the decision to postpone the 2020 Goldfields Cyclassic Race and Community Fondo that was scheduled to be held on May 30 and 31st until 2021. Although this decision is disappointing, we are committed to the well-being of both the cycling community and the broader community. We truly appreciate... the support of those who have registered and trained hard in preparation for the event. In light of this cancellation, full refunds will be issued to all registered participants. More details will follow regarding refund options within the next 48 hours. 07.01.2022 The 2021 Goldfields Cyclassic & Community Fondo isn't all about racing, there's also the "Community Fondo" portion of the event that enables the less serious rider to participate in the first day - the Shire of Menzies - Menzies Classic - Chas Egan Memorial Race. The distance of 132 km is broken into four segments (hand over points). Each segment is approximately 33 km so is well within the limits of a recreational rider. Teams are up to four people. We are very proud of our local girls Therese (left) and Annelize who have entered their team (the Spinderellas) in the Community Fondo. We encourage everyone who loves to ride and who would like to participate in the event to form a team with friends or colleagues and join Therese and Annelize in the adventure. 07.01.2022 The second of our sprints - the Paddington Sprint - is sponsored by Arc Infrastructure. Arc Infrastructure operates a rail freight network that stretches more than five thousand kilometres across Western Australia. From the Midwest across to the Goldfields and all the way down to the South West, the network connects local businesses and industries with eastern states and overseas markets. 07.01.2022 2020 - the start of a new decade and time to make some changes to our historic and iconic event. This year instead of the Community Challenge, we are bringing you the Kalgoorlie Miner Community Fondo. Thank you to the Kalgoorlie Miner for their generous sponsorship of the Community Fondo. We are also very proud to be partnering with Triple M 981 Goldfields and will be contributing $5 for every entry into the Community Fondo to "Give Me 5 for Kids". All funds raised for the ch...arity are distributed throughout the Goldfields region. Thanks to Triple M 981 Goldfields for their support in promoting our event. We would like to encourage all social riders, individually or as a team as well as corporate teams to participate in our unique weekend, starting with the Kalgoorlie to Menzies ride - the Community Fondo, being held on Saturday, 30 May 2020 (Stage 1 of the two-day Cyclassic event). Please note that the Community Fondo is a one day event only. After the ride, enjoy the Shire of Menzies - Menzies Classic Awards Ceremony Awards dinner. This is a very famous home-cooked three course dinner catered by the Kookynie Volunteers Association. This dinner, along with entertainment by DJ Rev followed by a fireworks display, is a wonderful way to end a day on the bike. This year, for the first time, prizes will be on offer specifically for Community Fondo participants. My Ride Kalgoorlie has kindly donated five $200 vouchers to be drawn by Anna and Grant Bull of My Ride at the Menzies Awards dinner. All entries in the Community Fondo will be in the draw, but you must be at the dinner to claim your prize. To add to the Goldfields experience, stay at Morapoi Station on Saturday night. There is a bus provided to take riders out to Morapoi after the fireworks display. The bus brings riders back to the Town Hall for breakfast and race briefing the following morning. And now to Day Two. A bus is provided to take Community Fondo riders up to Leonora on Sunday 31 May 2020, the perfect opportunity to support and spectate Stage 2 - Minara Resources - Leonora Golden Wheels as well as join in the festivities surrounding the Leonora Golden Gift. (Note: the chartered flight, provided by Alliance Airlines departs from Leonora). Overall Goldfields Cyclassic winners receive their prize on the main stage in Leonora, an opportunity to support the fastest riders for the weekend. There is also the Awards ceremony for Stage 2 at the Bowling Club in Leonora. Drinks and nibbles are provided. Riders are then taken to the Leonora airport for the flight back to Perth after a great weekend.
