09.01.2022 This Friday, Goldfields Rep Club Life Member Dr Norma Latchford will be giving a free presentation of her thesis, A Study of the Relationship between Mining and the Performing Arts in Australia 1850-1914: Case studies of the Ballarat and Kalgoorlie-Boulder goldfields. In this presentation, Dr Latchford, with the aid of historic paintings and photos, and dramatised readings from contemporary documents will demonstrate how important mining was to the development of the performing arts in Australia and how essential the performing arts were to the citizens as they built their communities in an alien landscape.
