23.01.2022 Flying Ricciardo sells at the 2019 Gold Muzzle Auction It took just 2 minutes and 48 seconds for Flying Ricciardo to be sold at the 2019 Gold Muzzle Puppy Auction for $7,500 to Kristy Sultana. What's that old saying?... "If I knew then what I know now..."

20.01.2022 RICCIARDO LOOKING FOR A GOLD MUZZLE CLEAN SWEEP Boom chaser Flying Ricciardo is making a quick pit-stop at Richmond this Friday night en-route to a tilt at the G1 Dapto Megastar, as he looks to make a clean sweep of the Ladbrokes Gold Muzzle Auction race series. The son of Barcia Bale and Megalodon claimed the inaugural Gold Muzzle Auction Race Series at Wentworth Park just two weeks ago when he defeated Premier Grant and Additional Asset, taking his overall record to 19 star...ts for 16 wins and 2 seconds. Purchased by his owner-trainer Kristy Sultana for $7,500 at the 2019 Gold Muzzle Puppy Auction, Flying Ricciardo has now earnt connections more than $141,000 and will start from Box 2 in Race 1 on Friday night. Although Richmond is his ‘home track’, this will be just his second official start at the Londonderry circuit and his first over the 400m he won there at start number 4 when clocking a Best-of-Night 18.63 over the 330m dash and he will also be looking to maintain his unbeaten record when wearing the striped rug. And although he is the sprinter on most people’s lips at the moment, he will face some stiff opposition on Friday night with the likes of Dam Reckless (Barcia Bale x Lagoon Prissy) and Jackpot Josie (Dyna Double One x Bella Senora) expected to be the toughest to beat. Dam Reckless has won 3 of 5 starts at Richmond with a best on the clock of a smart 22.68, while Jackpot Josie is a 5-time winner at the track and distance, and if she can reproduce her PB there of a sizzling 22.49, she’s certain to stretch the favourite. In the second Heat, Hola Adios and Sienna Keeping are the best performed chasers in the field with Hola Adios (Fernando Bale x Chica Destacada) scoring there at her last start over the 330m in a smart 18.68 while the Charmaine Roberts prepared Sienna Keeping (Black Magic Opal x Milly Keeping) has been victorious twice at the track and trip with a 22.76 best. The opening event at Richmond is due to get underway at 7.01 local time this Friday night and don’t forget, you can watch every NSW Greyhound race, live and free at www.thedogs.com.au website

12.01.2022 RICCIARDO TAKES THE CHEQUERED FLAG In just a little over 22 seconds, Flying Ricciardo ($1.22) reasserted his authority over his fellow Gold Muzzle Auction graduates to make it a clean sweep of the Ladbrokes Gold Muzzle Auction race series at Richmond on Friday night. After being rolled as a $1.12 favourite in the qualifiers one week earlier, the son of Barcia Bale and Megalodon was back on the podium following an authoritative 2.75lth victory over Jackpot Josie ($8) with a fu...rther length away to the early leader Hola Adios ($10) in third place with the clock stopped at a best-of-night, 22.55 On a night when electrical storms and heavy rain created havoc and headaches, Flying Ricciardo again etched his name into the record books by claiming both the Wentworth Park and Richmond series of the Gold Muzzle Auction Race series and in turn, took his career record to 21 start for 17 wins and 3 seconds as his prizemoney tally soared to $147,890. The story of Flying Ricciardo is now well known to most greyhound racing followers but for those who may be a little late coming to the party, he was purchased by Kristy Sultana at the inaugural Gold Muzzle Puppy Auction for $7,5000 after being one of four pups offered for sale by his breeder, Lynne Aldous. At his debut performance on a race track, he set a new Track record over the 340m trip at Bulli before his colours were lowered one week late when he finished second to another Gold Muzzle Auction graduate, Lagoon Sunshine. He then went on to win 13 of his next 14 starts including the G2 Black Top at The Gardens, with his only unplaced effort to date coming in the world’s richest race, the Million Dollar Chase. The boom sprinter will now be aimed at the upcoming G1 Sportsbet Megastar series at Dapto over 520m where the Heats will be staged on Thursday, December 3. It is an old cliché but hey, the racing world is full of thoseat just 23 months of age ‘the world is his oyster’ and Flying Ricciardo may just be the flag-bearer for future Auction sales for many years to come. Final details of the 2021 Gold Muzzle Puppy Auction will be confirmed shortly however the tentative date is Sunday, June 20, 2021 and it will be open for Pups whelped between July 1, 2020 and January 31, 2021.

09.01.2022 JOSIE JAGS A JACKPOT It was a ‘Black Friday’ for favourite punters at Richmond when Jackpot Josie delivered a knockout blow in the opening heat of the Ladbrokes Gold Muzzle Auction race series at Richmond on Friday night and lowered the colours of boom chaser Flying Ricciardo Prepared by industry stalwart George Borg from his Berkshire Park kennels, the daughter of Dyna Double One and Bella Senora carved out a sizzling 8.13 first split from the extreme outside box before rac...ing to the lead in the back straight and then holding off the $1.12 favourite to score in a Best-of-Night time of 22.52. Despite leaving punters with burnt fingers, Flying Ricciardo lost few admirers with another gallant performance after he missed the start and struck early bother, eventually going down by 1 lengths with Ray Keeping filling the minor spot another 6.25lengths adrift. While it was a shock to many, Jackpot Josie did have some support as an $8 second favourite off the back of an outstanding record over the 400m trip at Richmond where she has now had 9 starts at the track and trip for 6 wins and 3 minor placings and twice she has recorded the sizzling time of 22.49. In the second Heat, punters narrowed it down to basically a two-dog race and that’s exactly how it eventuated on the track. Hola Adios ($1.90) held the call over Sienna Keeping ($3.60) when the boxes opened but it was the latter who prevailed by of a length with Bella’s Choice finishing third as the winner stopped the clock at 23.03. The daughter of Melbourne Cup winning Sire, Black Magic Opal out of the G2 WA Oaks victor Milly Keeping, Sienna Keeping is owned and trained by leading Dubbo trainer Charmaine Roberts and has now earnt a cheque in 13 of 16 starts recording 6 victories and more than $16,000 on earnings. Courtesy of what looks to be an ideal outside draw, Flying Ricciardo will start favourite in the $6,000 to the winner final next Friday night with Jackpot Josie drawn directly underneath him while the other likely leaders in the event, Hola Adios and Sienna Keeping have drawn poorly in Boxes 5 and 4 respectively. Details of the 2021 Gold Muzzle Puppy Auction will be released shortly with Breeders already lining up to nominate their Pups for the event and enormous interest from prospective purchasers.

01.01.2022 December 10, 2020 $7,500 turns into $225,000 and Group 1 success for Flying Ricciardo From the moment he stepped foot onto a racetrack, Gold Muzzle graduate, Flying Ricciardo, has been creating headlines and tonight, he etched his name into the history books when he scored a breathtaking victory in the G1 Dapto Megastar.... With the reigning Australian Greyhound of the Year, Simon Told Helen drawn in the coveted inside box and Flying Ricciardo on his immediate outside, they staged an old fashioned two dog war until the back straight when the son of Barcia Bale and Megalodon exploded into another gear and left the race favourite standing, eventually scoring by 2.25 lengths in a time of 29.48, less than 2 lengths outside the track record. It is now well documented that Flying Ricciardo was one of four pups offered for sale at the 2019 Gold Muzzle Puppy Auction by breeder Lynne Aldous with Kristy Sultana paying just $7,500 for him as a 6 month old pupfor Kristy and her father Sam, an industry stalwart with more than 40 years behind him as a greyhound trainer, Flying Ricciardo now stands at the very top of the list of top class greyhounds that the Sultana’s have prepared. His victory at the elite level took his race record to an amazing 23 starts for 19 wins and 3 seconds, and officially, $224,590 in earnings.
