04.01.2022 The verdict is in. Australia’s top scientists have said that the Liberals’ climate targets won’t stop runaway global warming and nor will Labor’s ‘net zero by 2...050’. The scientists back the Greens in demanding real action by 2030 and a plan for coal, because otherwise it'll be too late. We need critical action in the next decade if we’re to protect ourselves and the planet from the worst impacts of global warming.

04.01.2022 We have some big and very important news! I have spent nearly 15 years of my life fighting to stop plastic from polluting our marine environment, including as y...our Senator in the federal parliament. Yesterday I built on this work and introduced a ground breaking Bill to the Australian Senate that will tackle the twin crises of plastic choking our oceans and a recycling industry that is in disarray. The European Parliament has done this, now it’s our turn! My Product Stewardship Amendment (Packaging and Plastics) Bill 2019 copies the EU’s bans and other restrictions on the most problematic sources of marine plastic pollution. Please share this and spread the news! This Bill is the least our federal parliament should be doing to keep faith with the Australian public and to keep pace with the rest of the world, and the Greens have every intention of working collaboratively with all stakeholders and political parties to see it passed into law. We will need your help though. Before we see some problematic sources of marine plastic pollution banned forever, this Bill will undergo an inquiry and this is where you can really help. We need as many people as possible to participate in the inquiry. This is your chance to respond to the proposed laws and let our government know your views on plastic pollution, single-use plastic, the packaging and recycling industry both the problems and solutions. We’re encouraging everyone to make a submission.
