04.01.2022 History shows that May to July is that time of year where electricity retailers announce their new plans. Given this, we felt it was important to send out a message to encourage all our customers to review their electricity contracts. 03.01.2022 Something we shared only 4 months and extremely important to be aware. The Australian Energy Regulator vote on SA Power networks proposed changes including "Solar Sponge" is due to be published 30th April 2020. SAPN are looking to introduce a time-of-use tariff, structured like below which will reduce AND increase electricity prices. ... Solar Sponge: 10am 3pm 25% price reduction in electricity costs (at a time you dont use much power from grid as have solar panels) Peak: 6am to 10am / 3pm to 1am 25% price increase in electricity cost (at a time you use most of your power) Off-peak: 1am 6am 50% price reduction (great if we all had electric cars!) Logic to us would also show signs that electricity retailers will lower their feed in tariffs during peak sunlight hours in SA due to solar saturation as recently written by us. https://www.goliathelectrical.com.au//solar-saturation-aka ***Since first publishing this in November 2019 Energy Australia have dropped their feed in tariff from 15c to 11c! So what does this mean??? If the "solar sponge" is applied here in SA and you have a battery the savings of a battery can almost double with the increased electricity costs and lower feed in tariff. There is still time (be that less than a month) for our clients to get approved a battery for the full SA home rebate available and you have up to 6 months to install so no need to feel pressured straight away.
