25.01.2022 We have a new home! Very exciting for the Fossil Walk :)

23.01.2022 Don't miss the Labyrinthodont on display at the GCFW Fossil House. This lizard like terrestrial and freshwater amphibian from the Devonian through to Triassic periods had a flattened skull and conical teeth. Imagine if he lived today!!??

23.01.2022 We have Permian solitary rugose corals around Ulladulla (if youre lucky enough to find one), so this story is pretty interesting:

22.01.2022 On Tuesday, after forensic police had finished their investigation, before the demolition crew moved in, fossil walk volunteers retrieved what we could from our display. We got about 8 boxes of fossils (should have been about 20). Most were destroyed by heat and water. Nearly all of our other equipment used in the display and for our talks was destroyed (including newly purchased data projector).

22.01.2022 Minerals! From The Earth Story Do you know your quartz from your pyrite? Can you tell the difference between beryl and apatite? This handy mineral poster has ...separated the common rock forming minerals into groups and shows common colour and crystal habit. The full size easy to read poster can be accessed here; http://www.newhorizonsscientific.ca//9/7/2/721-1232_va.jpg And if you want to know more about each of the minerals head to Mindat (link below) One of the most comprehensive lists of minerals on the web! http://www.mindat.org/mineralindex.php

21.01.2022 Being a bit of a geomorphologist, who also had training in pedology (the science of soil), I like this from CSIRO:

10.01.2022 A sad week for Gondwana Fossil Walk volunteers. On Sunday 6 October, we awoke to the news that are "home" for the last two and a half years had been destroyed by fire. The volunteer-run Marine Rescue building was also destroyed. The cause of the fire is being investigated by Police, but vandals are suspected.
