24.01.2022 ~Blue~ I Love you 245 grams Combine colour and sound, set and setting. And the ground of your practice, with it’s agency and fertile properties, is primed for emergent phenomena..

24.01.2022 Infra, meaning below. Often attributed to vibrations below the human hearing range. That which we cannot hear, yet still encourage a 'felt sense' experience, Very capable of enabling physiological response. Short mallets, have become a popular request. Particulary when supplied with a suitably weighted head. Enabling a practice of merely 'pivoting'(my definition of my own experience) the mallet gently back and forth, working with the gong's own response. A practice i believ...Continue reading

23.01.2022 Repurposing and upcycling is an ethos of Gongwalkabout. If you adopt one or more of my mallets, then it’s likely it/ they lived a past life as another product. I’ve been busy assembling mic stands using pre owned lighting tripods from the Op(thrift) shops. I’ve picked up another today to extend the upper section to enable an overhead mic. And I found the Zoom a great little bag for $2... It’s a perfect fit with the zoom inside it’s black holdall that it’s shipped with. #repurposedwood #gongs

22.01.2022 I’m thinking about you today.. The devil in me, got me wondering.. How many you would like to play with.. I got your preferred colour, to use..... Message me!..

22.01.2022 I see a ‘therapeutic space’, distinctly separate(yet connected), from the environment we as gong practitioners do our best to facilitate for others. There is the arena of our own work, between myself/ yourself and the instrument(s) I or we choose to experience. I can ask myself, or yourself(be you the practitioner), of the meaning here that I or you apply. How am I organising myself with my beliefs and accordingly to the community and the greater field, that I co exist in with you?. This is my interest in the field of Sound therapy, it might not be yours. However I have a belief that we all as individuals, wish to connect as who we are, and can become , rather than seeming to be who we are not. In our authenticity, this I could say emerges a line of communication, with ‘potential’, as I have spoken before of.

20.01.2022 Room for two in there I think!.. Gotta love re purposing and upcycling!.

19.01.2022 I made myself a mallet, how unusual 415 grams I could make one for you!.. #gongs #gongbath #

19.01.2022 More than a brilliant finish on No6!.. As we say here in Oz, ‘bloody good!’

17.01.2022 I have given the Bronze gongs the title of ‘red gongs’.. As a descriptive it fits, owing to the deep red colour they are and becoming . I’m reminded of the Aussie red rock and sand(dirt). I am curious not only to experience how they relax into their eventual sound, but to the patina they will bloom into. #paistegongs

17.01.2022 Yesterday i showed you the lizard i share my workshop with. Here is the Peacock that lives on the property. The flies are biting hard today, so I’ve retreated and done some admin.

07.01.2022 So now it the time I have to practice my German language. All 858 pages of it.. Sphere Music by Norbert Böhm, Which I believe is a perceived relationship between the cosmos, the planets and Sound.

04.01.2022 Dropped off some stands today... I can offer silver or black Floor or tall/ telescopic Choose wheels or self levelling feet.

04.01.2022 Aussie heavyweights!.. I picked up some Jarrah today. Keeping it as Aussie and natural as I can, I got three lengths to re purpose into product.

03.01.2022 Blue Good for that larger gong you’ve got hanging at the back.. One of a pair I’m delivering this weekend, however you can add yourself to my waiting list and enjoy your own later. Maybe you would prefer yellow?, or pink?, what about green?, oh maybe purple...I got your colour!..

03.01.2022 No6 I have two number sixes. I chose another to fill the gap in my framework and to offer further versatility for small group work. With a number of the seven being quite eclectic in character, I felt six would give the set more to play with. No6 is a reminder of the classic Paiste Symphonic gong, yet being made of cusn8(b8) they are different. There is nearly two years difference in age between the two sixes. As I’ve said before there is an interval of four notes difference c...2#(67hz)-F2(83hz).Which I believe is a result of the b8’s natural tendency to relax further than the nickel silver gongs. I don’t imagine Paiste offering the same gong in different tunings, however if you know different do let me know. (I did have a third No6, which I returned and now wish I’d checked the base note on that as a reference) Both offer a very warm and rich ‘ royal’ sound, the F note particularly is darker and slow to offer its frequency structure, whereas the C# is newer, tighter and quicker to the upper tonal register. Metaphorically I’ve described these as the ‘hare&tortoise’, as they both offer the same, and reach the same destination but with different speeds..they both offer a wonderful brightness, albeit one quicker. Like the classic symphonic gong, the sound decays slowly, unlike number 9 which decays very quickly in comparison. Infact 9’s overall sound decays quicker than any of the other six in the set. I can’t pick a favourite between the two, both are excellent gongs with a wonderful timbre and presence. The mirror finish on these is fantastic, if you do buy any of the bronze gongs you’ll probably find yourself practicing ‘careful handling’. In no way would I want to have to attempt to remove any sticky prints or water staining, as I don’t think I could match the machine polish pressure by hand. #paistegongs See more
