13.01.2022 Lot 5 is now sold, remaining in stage 2 is lots 6 & 8. With the announcement of the 25,000 building grant we have had a few more enquiries over the weekend. The remaining blocks are just under 6000sqm, so if it is a little more land you are looking it is well worth considering. Gooburrum Grange is located 7km from the main street of Bundaberg. 07.01.2022 We all know the construction industry has experienced tough times in recent years. State and Federal Governments have talked about using major infrastructure de...velopments to stimulate the economy, but in most cases, this has occurred almost exclusively in major cities. At a local level we’ve actively engaged local contractors for Council works and we’ve opened up new areas for residential development. Earlier this year I called on the Federal Government to establish a Royal Australian Navy base at the Port of Bundaberg. This makes a lot of sense given the constraints being experienced in Sydney and Brisbane. A Defence presence would deliver a huge boost for the Bundaberg Region including construction, employment, housing development and growing the supply chain. In recent months I have discussed the need for some sort of local stimulus policy with both the HIA and the UDIA. Today I was pleased to announce that Council will investigate the feasibility of a Housing Construction Grant Program. This program will potentially offer between $5000 and $20,000 for people to build new homes in the Bundaberg Region. We’ll look to implement this as quickly as possible while continuing to consult with councillors, industry and stakeholders. The proposal that I'm putting forward will seek to backdate the housing construction grant to November 2019. This stimulus will create jobs for local tradies. It will also help to offset the negative impact of drought on the regional economy and uncertainty over water security caused by the Paradise Dam fiasco. Given the strong financial position of Council, I'm confident this will be achieved at no increased cost to ratepayers.

06.01.2022 Follow the Progress - Rain has slowed things down a little, we need to keep the heavy vehicles off the site for a day or so yet. But we can complete some of the drainage on Booloongie & we have cleared blocks 30, 31 & 32. We hope to concrete the drainage head-wall tomorrow and get started on the edging of the new road next week. For a copy of the covenant please drop me a message and I will get one to you.
