23.01.2022 Rubbing essential oils such as lavender on your feet can offer many benefits from helping you sleep better at night, to making your soles smell good. You see, massaging essential oils into the bottoms of your feet is more than a soothing rub down; its a gateway for the oils benefits to spread to other parts of your body as well. When used before bed, studies have shown that lavender oil can not only help you fall asleep but also improve the overall quality of rest. Add...ed to the calmative effects of lavender oil, the actual act of massaging the oil into your feet can aide relaxation and sleep due to the fact that the feet are full of various reflexology points. Although it is recommended to dilute essential oil by adding them to other oils such as coconut or olive oil before applying to the skin, the bottoms of our feet arent as sensitive as other parts of our bodies so are usually strong enough to tolerate undiluted oils. So, if youre keen for a good nights sleep try rubbing a few drops of lavender oil into the soles of your feet before bed tonight and see how you feel come morning. A cosy pair of socks over the top will help to keep the soothing oil on your feet (and not on your sheets) and also keep your feet toasty warm. Sweet dreams. 07.01.2022 Have you increased your running time at lately? If so, you may have started to experience some of the following symptoms: Sharp pain in the inside part of the bottom of the heel. Heel pain tends to be worse with the first few steps after waking. Heel pain after long periods of standing or after getting up from a seated position. Heel pain after exercise.... Mild swelling in the heel. These are often symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis which is an inflammation of the plantar fascia, the thick tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot. It can develop as a result of over-stretching and overuse and is very common among runners. Plantar Fasciitis can become chronic and ongoing if not managed properly and can really limit your daily activities. Seeking professional help from a physiotherapist is advised. There are some things you can do in the meantime to help alleviate the problem. Such as regularly stretching and massaging the affected foot muscles. One method to do this is to use a firm ball or frozen water bottle. Roll the bottom of the foot on the ball or bottle first thing in the morning, before bed of an evening and often throughout the day. Rest or reduction in activity is also usually prescribed.
