22.01.2022 There's no doubt that we've got to be creative when it comes to tackling issues that impact our planet. So it's a no brainer we support local government events like the Sustainable Waste to Art Prize! A joint partnership of City of Ryde and TAFE NSW, the event sees artwork entries made using re-purposed waste and shines a light on our often unhealthy patterns of consumption. The best bit about this year's event is it’s entirely digital! Anyone, anywhere can check it out.... The 80 artworks are live now and online until 8 October. Go go go! https://www.ryde.nsw.gov.au/SWAP #waste #community #sustainable #art #online #council #ryde

15.01.2022 2020 is a year of firsts! The first time hand-sani was a must have item in the handbag. The first time you heard "social" and "distancing" in the same sentence. The first time you heard the word pivot since playing Saturday netball. And it's the first time we have our trademark hoodies up for grabs. ... For a very limited time you can catch these bad boys in our facebook shop. Except you won't find any fast fashion or greenwashing here. This is a hoodie that brings all the goodies. It's a one of a kind hoodie and it can boast: * The use of 60% pre-consumer recycled cotton * And the use of 40% post-consumer recycled polyester * A certification under the Global Recycle Standard * All emissions created by its hoodieness will be offset with tree planting awesomeness in our 'hood * A % of proceeds goes to Groundswell Giving who support seriously hope-generating, emission-busting, climate action projects * ANNNND...That at the end of its life you can return it to us for a $10 refund, and we'll repurpose you're old hoodie into something super goody. To be part of the few mad people wearing a hoodie at Christmas time in Australia, check out our store here: https://bit.ly/370Ahju

13.01.2022 Hope everyone was able to recognise and celebrate #NAIDOCweek this last week. We’d love to hear how you took part. Here’s to proudly recognising the Wallumettagal today and every day in our ‘hood. #Repost from National NAIDOC, with thanks Tyrown Waigana (@crawlincrocodile), a Perth based artist and designer, has been named as this year’s winner of the prestigious National NAIDOC Poster Competition.... His winning entry - Shape of Land - was judged by the National #NAIDOC Committee to have best illustrated the 2020 NAIDOC theme: Always Was Always Will Be. Waigana, a proud Noongar and Saibai Islander, has previously been named as one of WA’s best new and emerging Indigenous artists. According to the 23-year-old, his winning entry depicts the Rainbow Serpent coming out of the Dreamtime to create this country and how we are strongly connected to it. The Rainbow Serpent is represented by the snake and it forms the shape of Australia, which symbolises how it created our lands. The colour from the Rainbow Serpent is reflected on to the figure to display our connection to the Rainbow Serpent, thus our connection to country. The overlapping colours on the outside is the Dreamtime. The figure inside the shape of Australia is a representation of Indigenous Australians showing that this country - since the dawn of time - always was, and always will be Aboriginal land, Mr Waigana added. To find out more about this year’s artwork and winning artist and to download a digital copy of the 2020 National NAIDOC Poster visit the NAIDOC website. Free printed copies of the 2020 National NAIDOC Poster will be available in coming months. #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe #Indigenous #Aboriginal #TorresStrait #FirstNations
