24.01.2022 SEEDY TOE - This hoof belongs to a lovely mare called Flirt. In December last year she managed to rip a decent chunk off her hoof wall in the paddock. Farrier was called immediately as poor Flirt was 3 legged horse lame. Farrier put a bar shoe on to support the damaged hoof. Her very diligent owner (also an experienced vet nurse) treated the cavity religiously with Formalin soaks, flushing with peroxide and iodine to try and keep the cavity clean but despite her best effor...ts during a wet sunmer Seedy Toe took hold. Farrier resected Seedy Toe 3 seperate times between December and March but they just couldn’t shake it. In April the owner started with Good Gear Naturals Hoof Clay. Clay packed into the holes and stayed in for 2 - 3 days even in boggy muddy paddock. After starting with Good Gear Naturals Hoof Clay there were no further resections required. Here is Flirts hoof last week. Owner has now been given all clear to ride her again . No more Seedy Toe . 24.01.2022 Seedy Toe - don’t lose hope! I recently received these pictures from a very happy customer - Sonya Grant in Queensland. As you can see from the pictures - abscess tracked up from sole and burst through coronet band. The cavity resulting allowed seedy toe to take hold. Some pretty decent separation to deal with as well as a substantial resect. ... Good Gear Naturals Hoof Clay was used on the cavity. Just goes to show what a good farrier or trimmer and a dedicated owner can achieve . Cases like this take time to resolve obviously, because the hoof has to grow back. Patience and dedication and time But very well worth it ! 11.01.2022 Trim day today for our herd, many thanks to Celeste from Holistic Hoof Care for her patience and skill , this big heifer can be a little bit naughty and Celeste was marvellous with her as you can see from the picture below where butter wouldn’t melt in her sweet mouth Also managed to get some great videos on using Hoof Clay and Stay Put Cream, as I have had a few people messaging me asking which product they should use ... working on a video which I will post tomorrow that should answer this question
