04.01.2022 Dr McTari now offers Iron Infusions. Iron infusion is a procedure in which iron is delivered to your body intravenously, meaning into a vein through a needle. This method of delivering medication or supplementation is also known as an intravenous (IV) infusion. Iron infusions are usually prescribed by doctors to treat iron deficiency. Iron infusion benefits:... An iron infusion is a way to increase the body’s iron levels quickly. It’s a more immediate treatment than supplements or dietary changes. This can be very helpful in situations where anemia is severe. The physical benefits of an iron infusion include increased energy and easier breathing. You should start feeling these benefits a few weeks after your infusion treatment. How long these benefits last depends on the cause of your iron deficiency and whether or not you’re using any other therapies to increase your iron levels. For example, regular blood loss, such as through menstruation, may lead to a chronic drop in iron levels. Depending on your situation, the benefits of an iron infusion may last anywhere from several months to a few years. Call our friendly staff now to book an appointment on 3349 9911.

02.01.2022 PROTECTING YOURSELF FROM THE FLU is especially important during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic The flu is caused by the influenza virus. There are many different strains and they can change every year. Flu is not the same as a common cold. The flu is a serious disease because it can lead to serious medical conditions and may result in death. The flu is easily spread from person to person with most infections happening in winter. Peak Flu season usually occurs from June t...o September. Optimal protection against influenza occurs within the first three to four months following vaccination. Vaccinating from April provides protection before the peak season. In 2020, influenza vaccines funded through the National Immunisation Program are available to the following groups (this is due to their increased risk of complications from influenza): All people aged 6 months to less than 5 years (newly eligible in 2020) All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over Pregnant women (during any stage of pregnancy) All people aged 65 years and over People aged 6 months and over with medical conditions which increase the risk of influenza disease complications. With COVID-19 spreading across Australia, this year it is more important than ever for everyone 6 months of age and above to receive their flu vaccination early.
