17.01.2022 When four of Santa's elves got sick, and the trainee elves did not produce the toys as fast as the regular ones, Santa was beginning to feel the pressure of being behind schedule. Then Mrs. Claus told Santa that her Mum was coming to visit. This stressed Santa even more. When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two had jumped the fence and were out, heaven knows where. More stress. Then when he began to load the sleigh one... of the boards cracked and the toy bag fell to the ground and scattered the toys. So, frustrated, Santa went into the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered that the elves had hidden the liquor and there was nothing to drink. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider pot, and it broke into hundreds of little pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found that mice had eaten the straw end of the broom. Just then the doorbell rang, and irritable Santa trudged to the door. He opened the Door, and there was a little angel with a great big Christmas tree. The angel said, very cheerfully, "Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't it a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?" And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree. See more

16.01.2022 Welcome to this weeks very short newsletter due to me being away last week . Games Directors Report... A couple of over 60s games on the weekend with Relma and Kay emerging victors over Cath and Clive respectively. Again I ask participants in the open competitions to consider playing their games as early as possible so that we can free up the schedule later in the competitions. In pennant our opposition Graceville came from the clouds with a withering burst and won by a single shot. Whilst this was disappointing for all concerned, I think we need to remember our record of last year of 2 wins from 10 games and compare that with this years 2 wins and narrow loss from 3 games, I am sure we will learn from this disappointment and not take a large lead for granted in future but ensure we keep extending it as we had done in the previous two weeks. I apologise but I can't recall all the supporters willing us on but believe me we appreciate you, thanks to Ted for standing as reserve for the second week running, greatly appreciated, thanks to Thelma for umpiring, Uncle Kev for looking after the bar, Jan for the yummy after game treats and Cath for staying behind to let me get the admin done, you are all greatly appreciated. The teams for this week have been placed on the board . Jeff and Errol have both made themselves available and therefore a couple of players have had to make way so that we can get them playing and qualified. Please don't take shifting in a team or movement to the reserves list personally, we are trying to give as many of the players who expressed an interest in playing pennant a go and qualifying as many as we possibly can so we can all share in any success that may come our way. That said this weeks teams to play Oxley at Oxley are set out below. Leads Jim Robinson Tim Learner Pat Ayling Seconds Brad Donald Clive Wilson Ian Drummond Thirds Matt Hucker Errol Wessling Tom Goynich Skips Tom Tarrant Jeff Butler Brett Vance Reserve/s in attendance Peter Wood and Terry Walker Please inform Brett Vance on 0438169691 if you cannot make the game or you are going direct to Oxley. This Oxley team remain unbeaten after 3 games with 5 points, we are in 3rd position just behind them so a victory would see us leap frog into second position. Cheers and Kind Regards,

11.01.2022 One morning three women are playing on the fourth rink when suddenly a guy runs by wearing nothing but a bag over his head. As he passes by the first woman, she looks down carefully and says, Well, hes certainly not my husband." As he passes by the second woman, she also glances downward... and says, Hes not my husband either. He then passes by the third woman, who also looks down very carefully, as he runs by her. Wait a minute, she says. Hes not even a member of this bowling club. See more

Woodward & Team United. 2nd. Round: Milo & Team - Darra 3rd. Round: R.Osbourne & team - South Acacia.... Thank you to all teams that partisipated and hope to see you next October

02.01.2022 One game of competition played on the weekend with Terry Walker defeating Matt Hucker to move into the B singles Semis, arm wrestle for the first part of the match with the feeling if one player pulled away they would win which is exactly what happened, a pleasure to mark. Again inspired by our ladies' team the men defeated the top team of Ipswich on all three rinks, very satisfying indeed particularly as Ipswich boasted a +123 differential before the game, and we came away... 20 shot winners. A large contingent of supporters were on hand to help us in our endeavours, so as not to risk leaving someone out. you know who you are and you know you are greatly appreciated. Special mention to Uncle Kev (bar), Thelma (umpire/scorer) and Jan and her helpers (before and after game treats) thanks for what you have done for us throughout the season, let us hope we can go on and win the Pennant from here to repay you. This win leaves us with another must win game against the lowly (no pun intended) placed Lowood Mt Crosby team, who will be looking to hand the wooden spoon to Algester and play very well at home having had their only win there, but two tight losses so we would be foolish to take them lightly. Also a good margin with other results going our way could see us move up into 2nd place, so a lot to play for.

01.01.2022 THE CAT IN HEAVEN A cat died and went to Heaven. God met her at the gates and said, 'You have been a good cat all these years. Anything you want is yours for the asking.' The cat thought for a minute and then said, 'All my life I lived on a farm and slept on hard wooden floors. I would like a real fluffy pillow to sleep on.' God said, 'Say no more.' Instantly the cat had a huge fluffy pillow. A few days later, six mice were killed in an accident and they all went to Heav...en together. God met the mice at the gates with the same offer that He made to the cat. The mice said, 'Well, we have had to run all of our lives: from cats, dogs, and even people with brooms! If we could just have some little roller skates, we would not have to run again.' God answered, 'It is done.' All the mice had beautiful little roller skates. About a week later, God decided to check on the cat. He found her sound asleep on her fluffy pillow.. God gently awakened the cat and asked, 'Is everything okay? How have you been doing? Are you happy?' The cat replied, 'Oh, it is WONDERFUL. I have never been so happy in my life. The pillow is so fluffy, and those little Meals on Wheels you have been sending over are delicious!'
