25.01.2022 1 of 2 commits to the trap. A 10:32 feed shown. This accounted for a humanely dispatched GS seconds later; in the Midlands.
23.01.2022 The result, a humanely dispatched Grey Squirrel.
21.01.2022 2 of 2 Greys, dispatched humanely the next day; within 9 minutes of the feed cycle. Without the need to check daily, we see labour & time greatly reduced.
14.01.2022 Place a small amount of lure within the lure Basket, not the screw top cover. This ensures bait presentation nearest to the trap entrance.
14.01.2022 The lure should protrude slightly from the lure basket, ensuring the Hazelnut scent fills the trap tunnel.
13.01.2022 A lone tree, left to perish. Canopy damage is an increasing threat, caused by damage to the crown of our native broad leaves, by grey squirrels.
12.01.2022 2 Greys showing initial interaction. The smell is keeping them engaged. Like all rodents, we presume there is a degree of neophobia to overcome.
08.01.2022 Viewer Content Warning To clarify, do not use any lethal trap in areas where red squirrels are present. The only method of trapping to be used in this circumstance is live capture traps. Although this is common sense and a widely held knowledge in the trapping community; we must make this clear. This video shows the humane dispatch of a non-native Grey Squirrel. ... The responsible and ethical control of this species will see benefit for our native Broadleaf Woodland, Red Squirrel and localised Songbird populations. See more
04.01.2022 A well connected canopy. These trees are great to trap grey squirrels on.
02.01.2022 A small amount of lure at the entrance of the trap tunnel helps with initial interaction and familiarisation.
02.01.2022 A veteran hardwood tree with a rough/course bark and interlinked canopy is a great place for your A18GS. Closed tree canopies create aerial wildlife corridors; grey squirrels can move freely and safely through these. Ensure the understory around the tree is clear, squirrels feel safer when they have a clear view of potential threats/predators.
