25.01.2022 The Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) is a movement-based program for students in Prep - Year 2. Throughout the program students are required to use their senses and motor skills in a variety of movement challenges. Each week students complete a series of different stations that focus on body awareness, directional awareness, spatial awareness, hand/eye and foot/eye coordination, locomotor movements, balance, strength, depth perception, eye tracking and fine motor skills.
25.01.2022 Year 4 students enjoyed putting their capacity measurement skills to the test yesterday in Maths class, measuring, mixing and rating their own mini milkshakes.
24.01.2022 The Prep children had a lot of fun at the Prep to Year 2 Sports Morning. It was so hard to choose from all the beautiful photos!
24.01.2022 Year 5 enjoyed learning about the solar system and other science topics today in their Science lesson through augmented reality. The students used a MergeCube and the Explorer app to manipulate animated images of planets and other celestial bodies to discover information and play quizzes to test what they had learnt.
24.01.2022 The Year 6 students organised Side Show Alley games for the rest of the school today. This event gives the students the opportunity to collaborate and cooperate in teams as they decide on the themes, decorations, timetable, set up and organisation of their stall. It also provides them with a wonderful opportunity for service with all funds raised being given to the ALWS GRACE project.
22.01.2022 Year 4 are up to the build phase of their PBL sustainability unit this term and they are very excited to be finally creating their sustainable munch and crunch container or lunchbox prototype from recycled materials.
22.01.2022 This term, Year 2 have worked through an enquiry process, incorporating history, science and design technology to learn about toys in the past, present and even the future. As part of this, the children designed and constructed a push or pull toy. They have made some amazing creations!
21.01.2022 Mrs Catons Year 4 English class have loved sharing the novel, Pippi Longstocking, this term. This morning they made traditional Swedish Pepparkakor cookies in the shape of Pippi. Not only did they look good, they tasted great as well!
21.01.2022 Friday 19 March was National Day of Action against Bullying. The theme of NDA 2021 was Take A Stand Together. Students were encouraged to wear orange and were involved in a variety of activities about taking action together to say Bullying is Never OK! #NDA2021 #BullyingNoWay
20.01.2022 Mrs Caton, Year 4 English students and invited guests enjoyed sipping tea from Mrs Olds china tea sets and sharing delicious morsels as they celebrated the 75th birthday of Pippi Longstocking. Thankfully everyone was very well behaved and didnt behave like Pippi, although we did all dress a bit different as Pippi would.
20.01.2022 As the Year 6 students were unable to travel to Canberra, yesterday Parliament House came to them. Andrew and Lara, who work for the Parliamentary Education Office in Parliament House, led online sessions via Zoom, extending the students understanding of how government operates, how laws are made and how we can all be active citizens. They answered many questions from our students and helped them solve this mystery: Does the Governor General need to vote in Federal elections? Do you know the answer?
18.01.2022 Earlier this week, the Year 4 students enjoyed creating wonderful machines inspired by Rube Goldberg. It involved teamwork, problem solving, persistence and a whole lot of fun!

15.01.2022 The Cancer Buddies Cancer Emotion Attackers app has been designed to support children who have a family member or close friend who is suffering from cancer. The app was created by Year 5 students to support their friend and other children who have family members with cancer. 14.01.2022 With only 20 pieces of dry spaghetti, one metre of masking tape, one marshmallow and 25 minutes, Year 2 were challenged to build the tallest tower they could with the marshmallow at the top.
13.01.2022 Students in Year 6 have begun a four-week basketball program during their PE lesson, offered through Sporting Schools Australia. The program is funded through Sporting Schools Australia and delivered by Brisbane Capitals Basketball. The students had a great time learning and developing their skills today. Thanks to Coach Jacob, Mitch and Liam. Year 3 students will begin an AFL program using the same funding from Sporting Schools Australia on Thursday.

11.01.2022 The Year 1s have been completing a unit on Fire Safety this term. They discussed the four fire safety rules, created their own classroom escape plan and as homework, they had to have a conversation with their family about an escape plan for home. As part of the Design Technology unit, they planned and created their own fire trucks from recycled materials. They then used an app on their iPads to create a How to video.
10.01.2022 Our Year 3s spent Term 3 honing their skipping skills and raising funds for the Heart Foundation. Well done for raising $6,500 and increasing your heart health.
10.01.2022 The three TechGirls teams presented their app ideas to executives at GWI in the city yesterday afternoon. They received great feedback from the company who were very impressed with their app ideas and the way the girls presented their apps.
10.01.2022 Mrs Imber visited Year 5 this morning, to present the history of Ned Kelly and the artist, Sydney Nolan, who created a series of paintings based on Kellys life. Mrs Imber has a wealth of knowledge on Australian history, and was an engaging story teller for our students. Year 5 will be focussed on Sydney Nolans Ned Kelly series for their next Art project.

10.01.2022 This terms Year 1 PBL unit focuses on the driving question, How can we, as town planners, design and create a liveable mini city? Incorporating Geography, Design Technology and Digital Technology, students will create a city landscape using natural, managed and constructed environments in scale. Yesterday, the classes had the opportunity to hear from a real town planner, past Good News student, Sabine Mills, who spoke to the class via Zoom from her office in Adelaide. It was wonderful to hear Sabine offer the students advice on town planning issues and the importance of working as a team. The students cant wait to begin planning their own mini cities.

08.01.2022 Closing Chapel ~ On Friday we gathered together for worship at our Closing Chapel Service. It was the first live worship service we have had since Term 1 and was a wonderful way to finish 2020. Our choirs sang Christmas carols and Pastor Paul led a message about The Little Drummer Boy.
08.01.2022 As part out their Geography and Design Technology PBL unit, our Prep students have been exploring the question, "How can we care for our environment and inspire others to help us?". Over the last few weeks, the students have been discovering challenges in the playground environment and creating appropriate solutions. Yesterday the classroom was filled with excitement as they worked in groups to build a tool from recycled materials that would help them to do their jobs in the playground. They also had Mr Hogg visit to explain his role in the school and the tools he uses to do his jobs. The students loved having a photo on the tractor and lawn mower. Such an exciting and fun-filled day!
07.01.2022 Congratulations to our Chess Teams who competed in the Brisbane West Chess Tournament today. Chess Team 1 achieved 3rd place overall and Ometh came second overall. Well done Rafi, Hudson and Ometh who also received ribbons for winning 5 or more of the 8 games they played. What a wonderful achievement!

05.01.2022 This term in Christian Studies the Year 5 students are learning about our God-given responsibility to care for our world. To commemorate Keep Australia Beautiful Week, 5R weeded gardens, watered plants, collected rubbish and fed the birds as service to the school and to show care for Gods creation. They were pleased with their efforts and felt a sense of pride serving in this way.

01.01.2022 Congratulations to our Young ICT Explorer teams for their success in this year's competition. On Saturday, our Defloodinator3000 team placed 1st in the Y3-4 division, Luv It Local achieved 2nd place in the Y5-6 Division and Kidz Play received 3rd place in the Y3-4 category. Congratulations to all of the girls for their results in this year's competition, which was presented virtually and is Australia's largest invention competition for students.
