21.01.2022 You know what? I am getting a bit bored by 'balanced' trainers having a go at positive trainers making all these untrue statements about what we do. For the record: Ignoring unwanted behaviour is not something qualified positive trainers do recommend! We all know that this will not work. But instead of yelling no at the dog which really does not give much information on what we actually want them to do, we will first manage the problematic context, then teach them what we ...want them to do, practice, and then go back to the problematic situation. And guess what at least 50 % of dogs think their name is "NO" so by yelling no at them you might by mistake reinforce the wrong behaviour. There is also something called counter-conditioning and desensitisation and we use it a lot. See more
