25.01.2022 #financialliteracy is essential because it equips people with the knowledge and skills they need to manage money effectively. Diana Tjoeng discusses the value of using digital tools to help scale the delivery of #financialliteracy in emerging economies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nszFlM0tBVI
25.01.2022 An estimated 690 million people live with a disability within the Asia Pacific region. Poverty is a consequence of the inequality of opportunity faced by those living with a disability. We work towards removing the barriers that affect persons with a disability having equal access to finance within the Asia Pacific region. ... We look forward to sharing more about the impact of our work on #DisabilityInclusion at our forthcoming annual fundraiser. Register here: https://bit.ly/2R9N5MS
24.01.2022 Thank you for supporting our end of year fundraiser which resulted in us exceeding our target and raising over $60,000! These funds will be used to continue our support of women living in poverty through the provision of financial education. Education will enable them to develop the skills they need to manage their business and household finances through this period of uncertainty. Mrs Mao Hen is a farmer living in a village in Cambodia. She grows rice and cassava with her hu...sband and they have two young children. Hen has participated in two financial education courses supported by Good Return in Cambodia and she says: The most useful things I have learned from the courses include setting savings goals, saving for emergencies, and making a savings plan. I also like the courses very much because it provides me with basic concepts that help me improve my money management skills and I can better my business. Hen has shared what she has learned with her husband, especially techniques for saving and how to manage money. Not only has it helped them to grow their savings, she says it has helped strengthen their relationship as they now work as a team to manage their household finances. Hen and her family have worked hard to build their pathway out of poverty - dont let the pandemic send them backwards.

23.01.2022 Our Impact Investment fund provides guarantees to incentivise local banks and other lenders to lend to underserved small businesses, with a focus on increasing economic opportunities for women in poor, rural communities. The fund addresses a critical financing gap for small and growing businesses in the Asia Pacific region. It aims to help small business owners in some of the poorest communities to grow an enterprise that can break the cycle of poverty through the creation of... employment and income opportunities. We are drawing on our experience of financing over 10,000 microbusinesses across the region over the past ten years, the vast majority led by women, Shane Nichols, CEO Good Return. 16.01.2022 Thank you! Because of your generous support, we exceeded our end of year fundraising target and raised over $60,000! The funds raised will be used to support women living in poverty to access responsible #microfinance. Loans help women like Annalisa who run small and micro enterprises across the Asia Pacific region to invest in their livelihoods - so they can continue to earn an income, feed their families, and access the health care they need . Annalisa first took out a loan... to start a #smallbusiness raising livestock and planting vegetable crops. Together these activities provide Annalisa and her family with a steady income. "The loans have enabled me to provide my family with stability and I can now afford to send my children to college" . 14.01.2022 In emerging economies across the Asia Pacific, microfinance agencies provide small loans for micro businesses which empower individuals to build a better life. But what about slightly larger SMEs? They often miss out on microfinance funding opportunities due to been too large. ... They also lack to access bank funding, due to: 1. Lack of written records and banking history 2. Insufficient collateral 3. Lack of clearly documented business plans This results in a gap in financing solutions for the missing middle - SMEs with investment needs ranging from $10,000 to $250,000. Impact Investments provide these SMEs with an opportunity to access finance so they can start a business which has the power to generate multiple jobs in rural communities

08.01.2022 Last week, we launched our Impact Investment Fund at the Australian International Development Network's webinar, which featured a discussion on blended capital for impact investments and the role of philanthropic capital. Throughout the webinar, we discussed the role our Impact Investment fund plays in stimulating value chains in the agricultural sector in emerging economies across the Asia Pacific. Gemma Salteri of Cages Foundation shared why she is such an avid supporter o...f the Good Return Impact Investment Fund; "One of the reasons this fund is so compelling is because the social returns are so clearly articulated. Impact Investment makes so much sense in this scenario because this is the core skill set of what Good Return's core mission is in driving financial literacy and driving access to financial capital within developing markets."
